Pastor Beloved in the Lord, … .

P. Do you this day in the presence of God and of this congregation acknowledge the gifts which God gave in your Baptism?

Response: I do.

P. Do you renounce the devil and all his works and all his ways?

R. I do.

P. Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty?

R. Yes, I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

P. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son?

R. Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

P. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?

R. Yes, I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

P. Do you intend to continue steadfast in this confession and Church and to suffer all, even death rather than fall away from it?

R. I do so intend with the help of God.

P. Do you hold all the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures to be the inspired Word of God and confess the doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, drawn from them, as you have learned to know it from the Small Catechism, to be faithful and true?

R. I do.

P. Do you desire to be a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and of this congregation?

R I do.

P. Do you intend faithfully to conform all your life to the divine Word, to be faithful in the use of God’s Word and sacraments, which are his means of grace, and in faith, word and action to remain true to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, even to death?

R. I do so intend by the grace of God.

P. Give then your hand as pledge of your promise, and kneel to receive the blessing.

P. (Name), God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, give you his Holy Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge, of grace and prayer, of power and strength, of sanctification and the fear of God. (Confirmation Bible Verse)

P. Upon this your profession and promise I invite and welcome you, as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and of this congregation, to share with us in all the gifts our Lord has for his Church and to live them out continually in his worship and service.

P. Let us pray for the newly confirmed.

P. Lord God, heavenly Father, we thank and praise your for your great goodness in bringing these your sons to the knowledge of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, and enabling them both with the heart to believe and with the mouth to confess His saving name. Grant that, bringing forth the fruits of faith, they may continue steadfast and victorious to the day when all who have fought the good fight of faith shall receive the crown of righteousness; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

堅信礼のクラスは聖書やその中に書かれているお話に対する僕の認識を広げるのに大きな助けとなりました。教会で説教を聴くとき、時にはこんぐらがってしまうときにも、堅信礼のクラスはルーテル教会の会員であることの理解を深めるのにとても助けとなりました。例えば聖餐式についてぜんぜん理解できていなかったですが、そそまま受けていました。でも今はその隠れた歴史を理解することによって、聖餐式がルーテル教会の会員として不可欠で重要なものであることが分かりました。僕はこれからのルーテル教会の会員としての教えも楽しみにしています。

クリスチャンとは神様に従って生きる人です。神様を信じ、神様の言われることを信頼する人です。　またクリスチャンは彼らの主にある信仰のために死ぬ人だと僕は思います。クリスチャンは間違いや罪を犯しますが、本当のクリスチャンはその罪が赦されていることを知っている人です。他の例として彼らには誠の信仰が必要であり、神様について知り学ぶ必要があり、また敬虔な人生を送りたいと言う願いを持つことです。今年のイースターで感じたことは、私たちのためにイエス様がされた事はすばらしいと言うことです。私が神様に反してする事はすべて、イエス様をまたあの十字架に架けているのと同じだと感じます。一人のクリスチャンとしてまず第一に信じるべき事はイエス様が彼らのために死なれたこと、イエス様が私たちの主であり救い主であることを信じることです。さらに霊的な生活を送ることは神様に栄光を帰し、罪が赦されているという幸いを、僕らが乱用しないようにと守ってくれます。

Ｐ今日、神様の御前で、及び、この会衆の前で、あなたの洗礼によって与える神様の恵みを認めますか。

Pあなたは、悪魔と、その力と、その空しい約束をことごとくしりぞけますか。

R　はい、しりぞけます。

P　あなたは天地の造り主、全能の父なる神を信じますか。

R はい、私は天地の造り主、全能の父なる神を信ず。

Pあなたは聖霊を信じますか。

R　私は聖霊を信ず。また聖なるキリスト教会・聖徒の交わり、罪のゆるし、からだのよみがえり、限りなきいのちを信ず。

P この信仰告白やキリスト教会に忠実にしようと思いますか、また、そこから落ちるより、　死にあっても、すべてを忍びますか。

R はい、神様の助けによって。

P 旧約聖書と新約聖書が神様の御言葉として信じ、また、小教理問答書より学んだように、　その御言葉から来る福音ルーテル教会の教えを告白しますか。

R はい。

P あなたは福音ルーテル教会及びこの沖縄ルーテル教会の会員になりたいと思いますか。

R. はい。

P あなたは、信仰のもとに、キリストのからだに連なる者となり、御言葉の教えを守り、恵みの手段を尊び、生涯を送りますか。

Ｒ はい、神の助けによって。

Ｐ 約束のしるしとして握手して、祝福を受けるために、ひざまずいて下さい。

Ｐ（なまえ）、主イエス・キリストによって、あなたのうちに、あなたの聖霊の賜物を奮い起こし、その信仰を堅くし、その生活を導き、神と人に仕えるように強め、苦難を越えて永遠の命に至らせて下さい。

Ｐあなたの信仰告白と約束の上で、福音ルーテル教会及びこの沖縄ルーテル教会の会員として、主が教会に与えられたすべての恵みを分かち合って下さい。

P >今日堅信式を受けた人々の為に祈りましょう。

P 天の父なる、主よ、このあなたの子らが、あなたの御子、私達の救い主イエス・キリストを信じる信仰に導いて下さったので、あなたを感謝して誉め讃えます。聖霊の働きによって、彼らは自分の心で信じ、自分の口で救いの名名を告白する事が出来ました。どうか、信仰の実を結び、最後までに忠実に立ち、信仰のよい戦いに勝利者として義の冠をかぶらせて下さい。あなたと聖霊と共にただひとりの神であり、永遠に生きて治められる御子、主イエス・キリストによって祈ります。
