Mark 13:24-37 24 "But in those days, following that distress, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 26 At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. 28 "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. 30 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 32 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. 35 "Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back--whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: `Watch!' "

マルコ 13:24-37 13:24 「それらの日には、このような苦難の後、／太陽は暗くなり、／月は光を放たず、 13:25 星は空から落ち、／天体は揺り動かされる。 13:26 そのとき、人の子が大いなる力と栄光を帯びて雲に乗って来るのを、人々は見る。 13:27 そのとき、人の子は天使たちを遣わし、地の果てから天の果てまで、彼によって選ばれた人たちを四方から呼び集める。《 13:28 「いちじくの木から教えを学びなさい。枝が柔らかくなり、葉が伸びると、夏の近づいたことが分かる。 13:29 それと同じように、あなたがたは、これらのことが起こるのを見たら、人の子が戸口に近づいていると悟りなさい。 13:30 はっきり言っておく。これらのことがみな起こるまでは、この時代は決して滅びない。 13:31 天地は滅びるが、わたしの言葉は決して滅びない。《 13:32 「その日、その時は、だれも知らない。天使たちも子も知らない。父だけがご存じである。 13:33 気をつけて、目を覚ましていなさい。その時がいつなのか、あなたがたには分からないからである。 13:34 それは、ちょうど、家を後に旅に出る人が、僕たちに仕事を割り当てて責任を持たせ、門番には目を覚ましているようにと、言いつけておくようなものだ。 13:35 だから、目を覚ましていなさい。いつ家の主人が帰って来るのか、夕方か、夜中か、鶏の鳴くころか、明け方か、あなたがたには分からないからである。 13:36 主人が突然帰って来て、あなたがたが眠っているのを見つけるかもしれない。 13:37 あなたがたに言うことは、すべての人に言うのだ。目を覚ましていなさい。《

It is Advent. アドベントです。The word “advent” means “coming.” 「アドベント《と言う言葉は「来る事《です。 We are preparing for the coming of Christ. 私達はキリストの来られる事を準備します。 He comes at Christmas, at the End of the World, and right now, too. クリスマスにも、世の終わりにも、今現在にも、キリストは来られます。 The best way to prepare for his first coming at Christmas is to prepare for his second coming at the end of the world. クリスマスに最初に来られる事の一番良い準備とは、世の最後のキリストの再臨の準備をする事です。

Christmas is December 25 on our calendars, but no one knows when Christ will return. クリスマスは１２月２５日ですが、いつキリストが再びに来られるか誰も知りません。 But just as we see Christmas decorations that show that Christmas is near, we look at the signs in this world and we know that the Second Advent is near. クリスマスの飾りを見て、クリスマスが近くなったと分かります、同じように、この世の中のしるしを見ますと、キリストの再臨が近いことが分かります。 Mark 13:7-8, there will be wars and rumors of war, earthquakes, famines, sufferings. マルコ13:7-8、戦争の騒ぎや戦争のうわさ、地震があり、飢饉が起こり、苦しみがあります。Mark 13:24, the sun will be darkened and stars will fall from the sky and then the Son of Man will return in power and glory. マルコ13:24、太陽は暗くなり、星は空から落ち、人の子は力と栄光を帯びて来られます。 When we look at the world, when we look at our lives, when we look at our hearts, we know that the Lord should be returning soon. 私達はこの世を見る時、自分の人生を見る時、自分の心を見る時、主がそろそろ戻るだろうと分かります。 Jesus said to his disciples, “30 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.” イエス様は弟子達に言われました、「30 はっきり言っておく。これらのことがみな起こるまでは、この時代は決して滅びない。《 And we see in our own generation that these things have happened. 私達の時代にもこのような事が起こったと見ます。 Jesus told us to watch and so we will not be surprised when Christ returns. イエス様は「目を覚ましていなさい《と言われましたので、キリストが戻る時、私達は驚きません。

In one way we look forward to the Second Advent of Christ. ある面では、私達はキリストの再臨を待ち望みます。 Right now the world and our lives are filled with fear and violence and injustice and death and evil and sadness. 今現在、この世と私達の人生が多くの恐れと乱暴と上義と死と悪と悲しみで満たされています。 But when Christ comes it will be a day of salvation from all those wars and famines and sufferings. しかし、キリストが来ますと、救いの日になりますので、戦争と飢饉と苦しみが終わります。 And so we pray: “Thy kingdom come.” それで、「御国を来たらせたまえ《と祈ります。 It will be the resurrection to eternal life and heaven. 永遠の命と天国への復活です。 Jesus is sending his angels to gather all the elect who are waiting for him.彼の来るのが待っているすべての選ばれた人々を集める為に天使達を遣わします。

But it will also be a day of judgment against sin and unbelief. しかし、同時に罪や上信仰に対する裁きの日です。 And when we think of our sin and rebellion, we fear that Last Day. 私達が自分の罪や過ちを考えましたら、その最後の日を恐れます。 We sinners want to escape the judgment. 私達罪人はその裁きから逃げたいと思います。 Like Adam in the Garden of Eden, we also want to hide from God. エデンの園のアダムと同じように、私達も神様から身を隠したいと思います。 But there is no place to hide in the whole universe. しかし、この宇宙には身を隠す所がありません。 As Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away.” イエス様は言われました、「31 天地は滅びるが、私の言葉は決して滅びない《と。 Every hiding place will disappear. すべての隠れ場は消えます。

We may want to hide, but Jesus does not hide. 私達は自分を隠したいでしょうが、イエス様は御自分を隠しません。 In fact, he comes and searches for us. 彼は私達を探しに来ます。 That is the message of his First Coming. これは彼の最初の来る事のメッセージです。 Yes, he was born in a small town in a small country. 実は、彼は小さな国の小さい町に生まれました。 But the death and resurrection of Jesus has been proclaimed through out the world wherever the Apostles and Missionaries and Witnessing Christians have gone. しかし、彼の死と復活が、使徒や宣教師や証人が行く世界中に述べ伝えられています。 The Holy Spirit has enlightened us with Gospel. 聖霊は福音によって私たちの心を開きました。 This is the message of Christmas for which we prepare today. これこそ私たちが準備するクリスマスのメッセージです。 And the song of the Christmas Angels means nothing if Christ does return in glory with his holy angels to give us complete peace and goodwill. もし、キリストが栄光と天使達を連れて戻って来られなければ、クリスマスの天使達の平和と祝福の歌には意味がありません。

Advent means the coming of Christ. アドベントはキリストの来られる事です。 Today we celebrate that Christ comes to us in Word and Sacrament. 今日、キリストが御言葉と聖礼典によって私達に来られるのでお祝いします。 Today in this bilingual worship service, we see that the angels have already started gathering us, his elect, from the four winds of the earth. 今日の合同礼拝が教えるのは、天使達が地の果てから、四方から私達を呼び集め始めた事です。 He forgives our sin and prepares us for eternal life. 私達の罪を赦して、永遠の命の為に私達を準備させます。 And now we watch. それで、私達は目を覚まします。 With hope and joy we await the fullness of the coming of the Lord.希望と喜びを持って、私達は主の完全なアドベントを待ち望みます。
