Luke 2: 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. |
ルカ2:6 ところが、彼らがベツレヘムにいるうちに、マリアは月が満ちて、
2:7 初めての子を産み、布にくるんで飼い葉桶に寝かせた。宿屋には彼らの泊まる場所がなかったからである。
2:8 その地方で羊飼いたちが野宿をしながら、夜通し羊の群れの番をしていた。
2:9 すると、主の天使が近づき、主の栄光が周りを照らしたので、彼らは非常に恐れた。
2:10 天使は言った。「恐れるな。わたしは、民全体に与えられる大きな喜びを告げる。
2:11 今日ダビデの町で、あなたがたのために救い主がお生まれになった。この方こそ主メシアである。

This year’s Advent and Christmas and Epiphany season sermon theme is “At the Manger.” 今年のアドベント･クリスマス･顕現節の説教のテーマとは、「飼い葉おけで《です。 We will look at the people and the actions that happen at the manger where Jesus was born. それで、イエス様が生まれた所の飼い葉おけの所にいる人やその出来事を見ましょう。 We will go to the manger and see Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, the Angels, the Wisemen and ourselves. 私達も飼い葉おけに行って、マリア、ヨセフ、羊飼い、天使、博士、および自分も見ます。 But today we will see the Baby who is lying in that manger. しかし、今日、その飼い葉おけで寝ている赤ちゃんを見ましょう。 He is Jesus Christ. イエス･キリストです。 To understand the significance of that manger, we must know who and what the Baby is. 飼い葉おけの意味が分かる為に、その子供はどなたであるか、どのものであるか知る事が必要です。
The Baby will go by many names: その赤ちゃんには多くの吊前があります： Jesus, Christ, Messiah, Son of Mary, Son of David, Son of God, Emmanuel, and others. イエス様、キリスト、メシア、マリアの子、ダビデの子、神の子、インマヌエル、などです。 But the most important name is God Almighty, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. しかし、一番大切な吊前とは、全能の神、三位一体の第二人格です。 The God of the Universe is in that manger. 宇宙の神は、この飼い葉おけの中にいます。 That is hard for us humans to grasp. 私達人間はそれが理解しにくいでしょう。 It is a miracle. It is the true miracle of Christmas. これは奇跡です。これこそは、クリスマスの本当の奇跡です。
For people who do not believe in Jesus as their Savior, the manger might as well be empty. 自分の救い主としてイエス様を信じない人にとっては、その飼い葉おけが空っぽでしても同じです。 Or the manger is filled with something other than Jesus. 又、イエス様の代わりに別の物を入れます。 If you take Jesus Christ who is God Almighty out of the manger, what do you have? しかし、もし全能の神様であるイエス・キリストを飼い葉おけから取り出したら、何が残るでしょうか。 If you take “Christ” out of “Christmas,” what do you have? 「クリスマス《から「キリスト《を抜けば、何があるでしょうか。
“Christmas” becomes → “mas” or “mass” which is just a lump, or becomes a “mess” of confusion, which it often seems to be. 「クリスマス《は → 「マス《になります。「マス《とはただのかたまりです。又は、「マス《はめちゃめちゃの「混乱(こんらん)《になります。 Or “Christ” is often replaced by “Santa” to become → “Santamas.” 又、「キリスト《の変わりに「サンタ《になりましたら、「サンタマス《になります。 Now, the “mas” in “Christmas” really means “worship,” as when Roman Catholics call worship “Mass.” ところで、「クリスマス《の「マス《の意味とは、実は「礼拝《です。ローマカトリック教会の中では、礼拝を「マス《又「ミサ《と呼びます。 So “Christmas” really means the church service that remembers Christ. それで、「クリスマス《の言葉の意味とは、キリストを覚える礼拝と言う意味です。So if Christ is replaced by Santa, then it seems that Santa is being worshiped. それで、キリストの変わりにサンタにしましたら、サンタさんが礼拝されたようです。Now if you put St. Nicholas for Santa, then his church holiday is December 6th, and St. Nicholas was a wonderful man known for his love and charity. しかし、サンタより聖ニコラスにしたら、彼の教会の記念日は１２月６日です。聖ニコラスは愛と慈善(じぜん)で満たされた素晴らしい人でした。 But many people might replace “Christ” with “presents” or “party” or “me” or “money.” しかし、多くの人は、「キリスト《の代わりに、「プレゼント《、「パーティ《、「自分《、又「お金《にするでしょう。 Businesses want to cash in at “Cashmas.” 商売の人にとっては「キャッシュマス《で，もうけたいと思います。 But for many poor people or lonely people without faith, this time of the year is just “emptymas” – “emptiness.” しかし、多くの貧乏な人や寂しい人にとっては、信仰がなければ、この季節の意味はただの「空っぽマス《、「むなしいマス《です。
It can be a struggle to keep Christ in Christmas. キリストをクリスマスの中から抜かさないようにするのは大変です。 When we are tired or lonely or confused or busy, we wonder why God Almighty went to all the trouble to be born in a manger. 自分が疲れている時、寂しい、忙しい、困った時には、どうして全能の神様が、わざわざ飼い葉おけの中で生まれるか考えるかもしれません。 He was born as a human so that he could die as a human. イエス様が人間として生まれた理由とは、人間として死ぬ為です。 He was born so he could take our sins upon himself and die on the cross to forgive that sin. ご自分の上に私達の罪を取って私達の罪を赦す為に十字架上で死ぬ為に生まれました。 This was the perfect sacrifice. それは完全な犠牲でした。 We will find salvation at the cross and at the empty tomb. 十字架でも空っぽのお墓でも救いを見つけます。 But first we find the promise of salvation at the manger in Bethlehem. しかし、その前に、ベツレヘムの飼い葉おけで、救いの約束を見つけます。 Like the Shepherds, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."羊飼いと同じように、「さあ、ベツレヘムへ行こう。主が知らせてくださったその出来事を見ようではないか《と。
