John 2:13-22
13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!" 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me." 18 Then the Jews demanded of him, "What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?" 19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days." 20 The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

ヨハネ2:13。 ユダヤ人の過越祭が近づいたので、イエスはエルサレムへ上って行かれた。14 そして、神殿の境内で牛や羊や鳩を売っている者たちと、座って両替をしている者たちを御覧になった。15 イエスは縄で鞭を作り、羊や牛をすべて境内から追い出し、両替人の金をまき散らし、その台を倒し、16 鳩を売る者たちに言われた。「このような物はここから運び出せ。わたしの父の家を商売の家としてはならない。《17 弟子たちは、「あなたの家を思う熱意がわたしを食い尽くす《と書いてあるのを思い出した。18 ユダヤ人たちはイエスに、「あなたは、こんなことをするからには、どんなしるしをわたしたちに見せるつもりか《と言った。19 イエスは答えて言われた。「この神殿を壊してみよ。三日で建て直してみせる。《20 それでユダヤ人たちは、「この神殿は建てるのに四十六年もかかったのに、あなたは三日で建て直すのか《と言った。21 イエスの言われる神殿とは、御自分の体のことだったのである。22 イエスが死者の中から復活されたとき、弟子たちは、イエスがこう言われたのを思い出し、聖書とイエスの語られた言葉とを信じた。
The sermon outline today is very simple: four temples, the problem, the action, and the reaction. 今日の説教のアウトラインは簡単です：４つの神殿、問題、それに対する行動、そしてそれに対する反応です。
A temple is the place where God dwells, the house where God lives. 神殿とは、 神様が住んでいる所です。神様の住まいです。 There is the Temple in Jerusalem. エルサレムの神殿があります。Because Jesus is God, he himself is a temple. イエス様が神であるので、彼御自身が神殿です。The Holy Spirit lives in our hearts, so each of us is a temple of God. 聖霊は私達の心の中に住んでいるので、私達一人一人が神殿です。 And God is in this church where there is the Word and Sacraments, and so today we are in a temple of God. そして、神様が御言葉と聖礼典によってこの教会の中にいますので、今日私達は神様の神殿の中にいます。
The problem with the Temple in Jerusalem was that the courtyard was so busy and noisy that people could not pray and worship. エルサレムの神殿の問題とは、神殿の境内[ケイダイ]が忙しくてうるさいので、人々は祈ったり礼拝したりする事が出来ませんでした。 Jesus’ actions were a prophetic sign. イエス様の行動は予言者のようなしるしでした。 Since Jesus died and rose from the grave to forgive our sin, the sheep and cattle and doves were no longer necessary for sacrifice. イエス様が私達の罪を赦す為に死んで甦ったので、犠牲の為にその牛や羊や鳩はもう必要がありませんでした。 And Jesus paid our ransom price, not with silver or gold, but with his precious blood, so the money changers would no longer be necessary. 又イエス様が私達の贖いとして払ったのは、金や銀でではなくて、御自分の尊い血によってでしたので、その両替人[りょうがえにん]ももう要りません。 Jesus made a whip and drove them out. イエス様は鞭を作り彼らを神殿から追い出しました。 The reaction by the Jews was swift. ユダヤ人達の反応はすぐでした。 First they challenged the authority of Jesus. イエス様の権威を聞きました。 Jesus said that the miraculous sign that they wanted would be his death and resurrection. 彼が見たい奇跡のしるしが御自分の死と復活であるとイエス様は言われました。 Later the disciples would see it and believe. 後で弟子達はそれを見て信じました。 But the Jews did not want to believe Jesus so they made plans to cleanse the Temple by destroying Jesus.しかしユダヤ人はイエス様を信じようと思いませんでしたので、イエス様の体を壊す事によって神殿を清める計画を立てました。
The next temple was Jesus. 次の神殿とはイエス様です。 St. Paul says that the fullness of God dwelt in him (Col. 1:19 “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him.”). (ｺﾛｻｲ 1:19, “神は、御心のままに、満ちあふれるものを余すところなく御子の内に宿らせ。”) The problem was that this temple also needed to be cleansed. この神殿に有る問題とは、この神殿にも清めの必要があった事です。 That is because Jesus took upon himself all the sin of the world. 何故ならば、イエス様は御自分の上に世の罪を取ったからです。 This cleansing was the suffering of Jesus. この清めはイエス様の苦しみでした。 He was whipped. 鞭打たれました。He was beaten. 棒で打たれました。 He was hung on the cross. 十字架にかかりました。 The Jews mocked him, his disciples mourned him, and we adore him. ユダヤ人は彼を侮辱し、弟子達は悲しみまして、私達はイエス様を拝みます。 We see his great love that died for us. 私達の為に死んで下さった素晴らしい愛を見るからです。 But in that death, as the Lamb of God, he took away the sin of the world. しかし、その死によって、神の子羊として、世の罪を除きました。 And on the third day he rose again cleansed and pure. そして、三日目に、清められて聖なる者として復活しました。Therefore we adore him.ですから私達は彼を拝みます。
The next temple is our hearts. 次の神殿とは私達の心です。 (1Peter 2:5 “You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.) （第一ペテロ2:5 “あなたがた自身も生きた石として用いられ、霊的な家に造り上げられるようにしなさい。そして聖なる祭司となって神に喜ばれる霊的ないけにえを、イエス・キリストを通して献げなさい。”） [At first I was going to say that Jesus dwells in our hearts because we believe in him, but it is more the case that we believe in him because he first dwells in our hearts. Otherwise, I do not think we could ever believe in Jesus.] The problem is that we sin. 問題は、私達は罪を犯す事です。 A cleansing is needed in our hearts and souls and minds and in our daily life. 私達の心も魂も思いも生活も清めが必要です。 And along come Jesus and the Holy Spirit with the whip of the Ten Commandments and the Law of God. そしてイエス様と聖霊がやって来ますが、十戒や神の律法である鞭を持って来ます。 And our reaction is to resist the cleansing. We like our sin. そして私達の反応とは、それに抵抗する事です。 Hide the broom! ホーキを隠せ！ Hide the soap! 石けんを隠せ！ It is hard to change by ourselves. 自分で自分を変える事が難しいです。That is why we must live daily by the cleansing water of our baptism. ですから毎日の生き方は、私達を清める洗礼の水によってです。 That is why we feel so refreshed by the forgiveness given in the Lord’s Supper when the Body and Blood of Jesus enter into us. ですから、罪の赦しを与える聖餐式を受ける時、素晴らしい安心と力を受けます。その時イエス様の体と血が私達に入ります。 We really are temples of God! 私達は本当に神様の神殿です！ T
he fourth temple is our church. 四つ目の神殿は私達の教会です。 The Triune God is alive here with His Word and Sacraments. 御言葉と聖礼典に於いて、三位一体の神様がここに生きています。 We are not like the Temple in Jerusalem. 私達はエルサレムの神殿と違います。 Sometimes there are crying babies or restless kids that disturb our worship, but we are careful to have flea markets and Oktoberfests on Saturday. 時々私達の礼拝の中に、礼拝を乱す、泣いている赤ちゃんやうるさい子供がいるでしょうが、邪魔にならないようにフリーマーケットやオクトバーフェストを土曜日にします。We try to make this a peaceful place of worship, with stained glass windows, candles on the altar, and nice music. 静かな憩いの礼拝の所にする為に、ステイングラス窓や祭壇の蝋燭や奇麗な音楽がありあす。 Probably the biggest disturbances are caused by us. 多分一番大きな、さわがしいものとは、私達自身でしょう。Like Jesus, we who come here have a “zeal for the house of the Lord.” イエス様のように、ここに来る私達にも、｢主の家を思う熱意｣があるからです。And that is why I love this church, because I love the people in it. ですから私はこの教会が大好きです、ここにいる人が大好きだからです。The people who cause us problems might be swinging the whip of Jesus, and so we pray for the cleansing of humble repentance and forgiveness. 私達に問題を起こす人は、もしかしたら、イエス様の鞭を振るっているかも知らないので、けんそんな悔い改めと赦しの清めの為に祈ります。 We need both the forgiveness of God and the forgiveness of each other. 神様の赦しも皆さんのお互いの赦しも必要です。 And that is why there is hope for this congregation. ですから、この教会の為に希望があります。 And so today we have our Congregational Meeting to plan our work for Jesus. 今日、イエス様の為の働きを計画する教会の総会を開きます。May the Holy Spirit give us guidance and strength. どうか、聖霊が私達に導きと力を与えますように。
