Luke 2:10, 11
"Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
ルカ2:10-11
「恐れるな。わたしは、民全体に与えられる大きな喜びを告げる。 今日ダビデの町で、あなたがたのために救い主がお生まれになった。この方こそ主メシアである。《
“For you.” 「あなたの為。《 The Angel brought wonderful news to the Shepherds. 天使は羊飼い達にすばらしい知らせを告げました。 It was delivered personally to them. 彼らに直接に個人的に伝えました。The message was that the Savior had been born. このメッセージとは、救い主が生まれた事です。This Savior was the long expected Messiah Christ. この救い主は、ずっと前から待ち望んでいるメシアのキリストです。People had been waiting for many years for the Messiah who would bring salvation to their nation. 民は、何年も前から、自分の国に救いをもたらすように待ちました。 And so, his birth would bring great joy to everyone.ですから、彼の誕生が皆に大喜びを与えます。
“To you.” 「あなたに。《 The Angel said, “a Savior has been born to you.” 天使は言いました、「あなたがたのために救い主がお生まれになった《と。It was a gift given to them from God. It was a gift given personally to them. 彼らに直接に、個人的に与えたギフトです。So the shepherds too would receive this gift of salvation. ですから、 羊飼い達もこの救いのギフトをもらいます。They were not left out.彼等は無視されていませんでした。
They were excited about this gift, so they ran to Bethlehem and found the Baby Jesus in the Manger. 彼らは、このギフトで興奮したので、ベツレヘムまでに走って行きまして、飼い葉おけの中のイエス様を見つけました。 And then they repeated the message of the Angel first to Mary and Joseph and then to the folks of the town who were amazed at their report. 天使のメッセージを、まず、マリアとヨセフに話して、そして、町の人々にも伝えました。町の人々は、それを聞いて驚きました。 And then they returned to their flock. 羊飼い達が羊の群れに戻りました。 The text says “they glorified and praised God.” この聖書の箇所は言います「羊飼いたちは、見聞きしたことがすべて天使の話したとおりだったので、神をあがめ、賛美しながら帰って行った。《 If you ask me, I think that their praises were the first Christmas Carol.私に聞きましたら、彼らの賛美は最初のクリスマス・キャロルだったでしょう。
“For us.” 「私達の為。《 The Bible is a wonderful book inspired by the Holy Spirit. 聖書は、聖霊の霊感によって書かれたすばらしい本です。 It is God speaking to us today. 神様が現代の私達にも話すものです。 And so the message of the Angels spoken to the shepherds is also spoken to us today. それで、天使が羊飼いたちに話した言葉が、今日私達にも話されています。 The birth of Christ is for us, for you and me. キリストの降誕は私達の為です、あなたと私の為です。 The Angel speaks to each one of us, and so it is a personal message from God to us. 天使は、私達一人一人に話しますので、神様から私達に与えられている個人的なメッセージです。The Savior has been born for each and every one of us. 救い主は私達すべての者の為に生まれました。
“To us.” 「私達に。《 This gift has been given to us. このギフトが私達に与えられています。 So now what will we do with it? しかし、どのようにそれを扱うでしょうか。 Are we going to open it or let is stay under the Christmas tree and ignore it? ギフトを開けるか、それともそのままクリスマス･ツリーの下に置いて無視するでしょうか。 Will we keep it or return it to the store for something else that we think we need? 貰うか、それとも、店に持って行って、自分の好みの物に交換するでしょうか。 Will we be polite but inwardly despise the gift? 丁寧に受けとりますが、心の中でそれを嫌うでしょうか。 God gave us the gift of his Son. 神様は私達に御自分の御子をギフトとして下さいました。What are we going to do? どのようにそれを扱うでしょうか。 Will we accept Jesus as our Savior in faith? 信仰を持って救い主としてイエス様を受け入れるでしょうか。 Will we just sing “Jingle Bells” and not the religious carols? 「ジングベール《だけを歌って、宗教的なキャロルを歌わないでしょうか。 Will we try to exchange Jesus for something else, some other religion or folk belief or some sinful life style? イエス様を別のものに交換するでしょうか； 例えば別の宗教や迷信や罪深い生活の生き方でしょうか。
“For me.” 「私の為。《 “To me.” 「私に。《 When I realize that Jesus was born and died and rose again for me, for me personally, then the true value and beauty of this gift is made clear. イエス様が生まれて死んで復活して下さったのは、私自身の為に、私個人にして下さったと理解する時、 このギフトの本当の価値の麗しさが明確になります。 I see the true love of God to me. 自分の為に神様の本当の愛を見ます。 Even though I am a sinner, Christ was born to forgive me. 自分が罪人であっても、私を赦す為にキリストが生まれたのです。 Even though I am as lowly as a poor shepherd, the angel-message has come to me. 私が、その貧しい羊飼いのように価値がないものでしても、その天使のメッセージが私に来ました。
The shepherds ran to Bethlehem to see the Baby.羊飼い達は、赤ちゃんを見る為にベツレヘムまでに走って行きました。 At Christmas, in faith and joy, I run to see the Baby in the Manger. クリスマスの時、信仰と喜びを持って、私も飼い葉おけの中の赤ちゃんを見に走って行きます。 At Easter, in faith and joy, I run to see the empty tomb. 復活祭の時、空っぽなお墓を見に走って行きます。 Won’t you come with me? あなたは私と共に行きませんか。 As the carol says, “Oh come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.”キャロルの言葉のようです、「いそぎゆきて 拝まずや。《
Amen. アーメン。
May the peace and joy of Christmas be with you always. Amen. クリスマスの平和と喜びがいつもあなたにありますように。アーメン。
Christmas Eve Prayer ２０１９ クリスマス･イブの祈り
On the night when Jesus was born, the glory of the angels lit up the night sky. Let our candles light up our hearts as we pray to you.
イエス様がお生まれになった夜、み使いの栄光が夜の空を明るくしました。 どうか、祈りながら、私達のろうそくが私達の心を明るくするようにいのります。
We pray for ourselves, our family, our loved ones, our friends, our town, our country, and for the world. Let there be real peace and love and healing and reconciliation. May there be joy because Christ the Savior has been born. May this Gospel Good News be spread to the whole world.
自分の為にも、家族や愛する人や友達や自分の町や国や全世界の為に祈ります。本当の平和と愛と癒しと和解がありますように。救い主のキリストがお生まれになったので、喜びがありますように。この福音の良い知らせが全世界に広がるように祈ります。
As the year ends, we remember those who this year were called to be with you in heaven. We thank you for their love. Let them be a model for our lives.
年末になりましたので、今年天に召された人を覚えます。彼らの愛の為に感謝します。どうか、私達の人生の模範になりますように祈ります。
We thank you for the many blessings that you have given us this year. With the hope and joy of Christmas, may we live every day in your light and grace and mercy.
今年与えられた多くの恵みの為に感謝します。クリスマスの希望と喜びを持って、あなたの光と愛と哀れみの内に毎日を過ごすように 祈ります。
