Luke 17:1-10 1 Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. 2 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. 3 So watch yourselves. “If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. 4 If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.” 5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6 He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. 7 “Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? 8 Would he not rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? 9 Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” |
ルカ7:1-10 1 イエスは弟子たちに言われた。「つまずきは避けられない。だが、それをもたらす者は不幸である。2 そのような者は、これらの小さい者の一人をつまずかせるよりも、首にひき臼を懸けられて、海に投げ込まれてしまう方がましである。3 あなたがたも気をつけなさい。 もし兄弟が罪を犯したら、戒めなさい。そして、悔い改めれば、赦してやりなさい。4 一日に七回あなたに対して罪を犯しても、七回、『悔い改めます』と言ってあなたのところに来るなら、赦してやりなさい。」 5 使徒たちが、「わたしどもの信仰を増してください」と言ったとき、 6 主は言われた。「もしあなたがたにからし種一粒ほどの信仰があれば、この桑の木に、『抜け出して海に根を下ろせ』と言っても、言うことを聞くであろう。 7 あなたがたのうちだれかに、畑を耕すか羊を飼うかする僕がいる場合、その僕が畑から帰って来たとき、『すぐ来て食事の席に着きなさい』と言う者がいるだろうか。8 むしろ、『夕食の用意をしてくれ。腰に帯を締め、わたしが食事を済ますまで給仕してくれ。お前はその後で食事をしなさい』と言うのではなかろうか。9 命じられたことを果たしたからといって、主人は僕に感謝するだろうか。10 あなたがたも同じことだ。自分に命じられたことをみな果たしたら、『わたしどもは取るに足りない僕です。しなければならないことをしただけです』と言いなさい。」 |
Have you ever prayed for more faith or a stronger faith? 「私の信仰を増してください」 と祈った事がありますか。 Almost every Christian has at one point or another. ほとんどのクリスチャン達は、少なくても一度このように祈った事があるでしょう。 We have saving faith that believes in Jesus as our Savior, but when the problems of life attack us, we need strength and confidence to trust God’s love and promise. イエス･キリストが自分の救い主であると信じますので、救われる信仰がありますが、人生の問題が私達を攻撃する時、神様の愛と約束を信頼する為の力と確信が必要です。 When faced with a big challenge, we need God’s help. 大きいチャレンジがある時、神様の助けが必要です。
What would you do if you had a bigger faith? そのもっと大きい信仰があれば、何をするでしょうか。 Would you plant mulberry trees in the sea? 桑の木を海の中に植えるでしょうか。 Would you move mountains? 山を動かすでしょうか。 For those tasks you do not need faith: そのような仕事の為に信仰が必要ありません：what you really need is a shovel or a bulldozer. 必要なのはシャベルやブルドザーです。 Use your faith to do something really humanly impossible. 人間にとって不可能な事の為に信仰を使いましょう。 Use your faith to forgive your brother seven times!兄弟を７回赦す為に使いましょう。
That is why the apostles requested more faith. それをする為にイエス様の使徒達は信仰を増やすように願いました。 It was not to move mountains, but rather to move mountains of sin. 山を動かす為にではなくて、山ほど大きな罪を動かす為でした。 It is hard to forgive other people. 他の人を赦す事が難しいです。 It is especially hard when they keep on repeating the same offensive behavior seven times over and over. 特に、７回や何回も何回も同じ無礼な行動を繰り返す時です。To forgive that you need faith and love and patience and the power of the Holy Spirit. それを赦す為に、信仰を始め、愛と忍耐と聖霊の力が必要です。
And yet Jesus says it is easy to forgive. それなのに、イエス様は赦す事が簡単であると言われます。 All that is needed is a little tiny bit of faith, the size of a mustard seed. 必要なのは、ただ極goku小さい信仰、からし種一粒ほどで充分です。 And we all have at least that much and even more faith if we believe in Jesus as our Savior. そしてイエス様を自分の救い主として信じる人には、もう既にそれより大きな信仰があります。 We can forgive our brothers and sisters seven times because we have been forgiven countless times by Jesus when he died on the cross.兄弟姉妹を７回も赦す事が出来るのは、イエス様が十字架上で死ぬ時、私達の数え切りない罪を赦して下さったからです。
Like throwing a mulberry tree into the sea, throwing sin into the sea is a good place, because when it is the sea of baptism, the drowning turns into a resurrection of forgiveness and eternal life.桑の木を海の中に投げる事のように、海の中に罪を投げる事がふさわしいです、何故ならば、それが洗礼の海でしたら、その海に溺(おぼ)れる事は、赦しと永遠の命の復活になるからです。
In today’s Gospel reading, at verse 1 the Twelve are called “disciples” and at verse 5 they are called “apostles.” 今日の福音書の1節では、１２人は｢弟子｣と呼ばれ、５節では｢使徒｣と呼ばれています。 Disciples are students, apostles are those sent out on the mission work of Christ. 弟子は生徒で、使徒は宣教の働きに送られた人です。 The apostles are missionaries who proclaim the work of Jesus on the cross, namely, to proclaim the forgiveness of sins. その働きとは、十字架上でのイエス様の働きを述べ伝える事です。すなわち、罪の赦しを告げる事です。 Not just telling about forgiveness, but actually, in the Name of Christ, to forgive sin. それは、ただ、赦しについて話す事だけではなくて、実際にキリストの御名によって罪を赦す事です。When the Gospel is proclaimed and believed, sins are forgiven by God. 福音が述べ伝えられて信じられている時、罪が神様に赦されています。 Also, when we live our lives in the midst of other people, there will be personal insults and injury. 又、他の人の交わりの中で私達が人生を送る時、個人的な無礼と誤りと罪があります。And so there will be personal forgiveness from our hearts just as God forgives. ですから、私達の心の中には、神様の赦しと同じような個人的な赦しもあります。 That is what we pray in the Lord’s Prayer. それは主の祈りの中で願う事です。 “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” 「我らに罪を犯す者を我らが赦すごとく、我らの罪をも赦したまえ。」 It is the work of apostles, the church, all Christians, you and me, to forgive sins. 使徒、教会、すべてのキリスト信者、あなたと私の働きとは、罪を赦す事です。
The symbol of the church is the cross. キリスト教会のシンボルとは、十字架です。 The cross is the symbol of forgiveness. 十字架とは、赦しのシンボルです。 On the evening of his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples and gave them the command, the authority, and the power to forgive sin. 復活した日の夕方、イエス様は弟子達に現れて、彼らに罪を赦す命令、権利と力を与えました。
John 20:21 Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
ヨハネ20：21－23。『21 イエスは言われた。「あなたがたに平和があるように。父がわたしをお遣わしになったように、わたしもあなたがたを遣わす。」22 そう言ってから、彼らに息を吹きかけて言われた。「聖霊を受けなさい。23 だれの罪でも、あなたがたが赦せば、その罪は赦される。だれの罪でも、あなたがたが赦さなければ、赦されないまま残る。」』
Each one of us, as members of the Priesthood of All Believers, have the same command, authority and power to forgive sin. 私達一人一人には、万人祭司のメンバーであるので、罪を赦す為に、同じ命令と権利と力があります。It is proclaiming the cross of Christ.即ち、キリストの十字架を述べ伝える事です。 It is simply living as a Christian. ただクリスチャンとして活きる事です。
It is a big mission and challenge, and yet even though we are doing a great and wonderful thing, we cannot be proud. 大きなミッソン、大きなチャレンジですが、それをする時、私達は素晴らしい事をしますが、誇(ほこ)ってはいけません。Rather we say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ 私達は言います、『私どもは取(と)るに足(た)りない僕です。しなければならない事をしただけです』と。 We haven’t done such a big thing. 大きい事をしませんでした。 It was only a mustard seed size of faith. からし種一粒ほどの信仰しかありませんでした。 Jesus did the big thing on the cross.イエス様は、十字架上でその大きな事をして下さいましたからです。
