| 12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it. 15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple area and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’” 18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching. 19 When evening came, they went out of the city. | 11:12 翌日、一行がベタニアを出るとき、イエスは空腹を覚えられた。13 そこで、葉の茂ったいちじくの木を遠くから見て、実がなってはいないかと近寄られたが、葉のほかは何もなかった。いちじくの季節ではなかったからである。14 イエスはその木に向かって、「今から後いつまでも、お前から実を食べる者がないように」と言われた。弟子たちはこれを聞いていた。 11:15 それから、一行はエルサレムに来た。イエスは神殿の境内に入り、そこで売り買いしていた人々を追い出し始め、両替人の台や鳩を売る者の腰掛けをひっくり返された。16 また、境内を通って物を運ぶこともお許しにならなかった。17 そして、人々に教えて言われた。「こう書いてあるではないか。『わたしの家は、すべての国の人の／祈りの家と呼ばれるべきである。』／ところが、あなたたちは／それを強盗の巣にしてしまった。」 11:18 祭司長たちや律法学者たちはこれを聞いて、イエスをどのようにして殺そうかと謀った。群衆が皆その教えに打たれていたので、彼らはイエスを恐れたからである。 11:19 夕方になると、イエスは弟子たちと都の外に出て行かれた。 |
Last week I started a Lenten sermon series on the six days of Holy Week, according to the Gospel of Mark. 先週、受難節の説教のシーリズとして、マルコによる福音書の受難週の六日間を始めました。 It starts on Palm Sunday and goes to Good Friday.それは、枝の日曜日から聖金曜日までです。Today let’s look at the Second Day of the week, Monday of Holy Week.今日、受難週の２日つめの日、月曜日を見ましょう。
Today’s actions by Jesus are strange. イエス様の今日の行動は変です。 We usually think of Jesus as been nice and kind, peaceful, and helping and healing people. 普通に思うのは、イエス様がやさしく親切で、おだやかな、人を手伝って癒すお方である事です。 But today he curses a fig tree and violently cleanses the temple. しかし、今日は、イエス様がいちじくの木を呪ったり、暴力的に神殿を清めます。 I think the best way to understand the cursing of the fig tree is to see it as a prophetic sign, like a parable. その無花果の木を呪う事を理解する一番良いのは、それが預言的なしるし、例え話のように考える方法です。 If the fig tree has leaves it should have fruit. もしいちじくの木の葉が茂るならば、実があるはずです。 It was not the season for figs, so the tree was itself was out of season, the tree was not right, it was deceitful. いちじくの季節ではなかったので、葉もないはずです。それで、その木は季節外れて、正しくない木で、うその葉をつけている事のようです。
Likewise the temple. 神殿も同じです。 Like having a lot of leaves, it was busy with lots of activity. 葉っぱがいっぱいのように、活動で忙しかったです。 People were selling and buying things they needed for the Passover festival. 多くの人は過ぎ越しの祭りに、必要な物を売ったり買ったりしていました。 But the activity was not the proper thing for a temple. しかし、このような活動は、神殿の境内にふさわしくありませんでした。 The proper “fruit” for the temple was to be a “house of prayer for all nations.” 神殿のふさわしい実とは、「すべての国の人の祈りの家」になる事です。 So Jesus drove out all the merchants. それでイエス様は商売する人々を追い出しました。 Unlike the fig tree, Jesus did not curse the temple. いちじくの木と違って、イエス様はその神殿を呪いませんでした。 That is because the temple was necessary for the prayers and sacrifices. なぜならば、祈りと生け贄の為に、神殿が必要だったからです。 And besides, in 40 years the Romans would completely destroy the temple, which was not longer needed after the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. その上４０年後、ローマの兵隊はその神殿を完全に破壊します。イエス様の十字架上での完全な犠牲の後に、神殿が必要ありませんでした。
And so that day there was a curse for the fig tree and a blessing of cleansing for the temple. それで、その日、いちじくの木の為の呪いと神殿の為の、清めの祝福がありました。 It reminds us that Jesus Christ is both Judge and Savior.イエス･キリストは裁き主であり救い主であるのです。
Jesus saw the condition of the temple and took action. イエス様はその神殿の状態を見て行動しました。 Jesus sees the condition of our church today. イエス様は私達の教会の状態を見ます。 What action will he take? イエス様はどんな行動をするでしょうか。 Will he curse us or bless us? 私達を呪うかそれとも祝福するでしょうか。 Will he judge us or take pity? 私達を裁くか、それともあわれむでしょうか。 There is the activity that is in every church that is not just worship and prayer. Sometimes there are flea markets, pot lucks, and parties. すべての教会のように、礼拝と祈りのほかは、フリーマーケットや持ちよりやパーティがあります。 Those things are not bad, unless they prevent us from doing our job of prayer and praise and proclamation of the Gospel. そのものが悪くないのですが、祈りと賛美と福音の伝道の邪魔をしなければです。 So we pray that Jesus will cleanse our church so that this will indeed be a “house of prayer for all nations.” それで、私は祈ります。イエス様が私達の教会を清めてくださるように、本当に「すべての国の人の祈りの家」になるように。
Jesus sees our daily lives. イエス様は私達の毎日の生活を見ます。 There are all sorts of leaves because we are busy about so many things. 私達が多くの事で忙しいので、沢山のいろいろの葉っぱがあります。 But is there fruit? しかし、実があるでしょうか。 Is there love and prayer? 愛と祈りがありますか。 Is there kindness? 親切がありますか。 Is there faith and trust? 信仰と信頼がありますか。 Will Jesus curse us or cleanse us? イエス様が私達を呪うでしょうか、それとも清めるでしょうか。 The cleansing is a blessing. 清める事は祝福です。
We are cleansed by the death and resurrection of Jesus. 私達がイエス様の死と復活によって清められています。 We are washed clean by Baptism. 洗礼によって綺麗に洗いました。 We are blessed by the forgiveness of sin. 罪の赦しによって祝福されました。 St. Paul said that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. 聖パウロは、私達の体が聖霊の神殿であると書きました。 The Holy Spirit lives in our hearts. 聖霊は私達の心の中に住んでいます。
