復活祭、２０１６年３月２７日

Have you ever sent a letter, only to have it came back to me marked "Wrong Address." 手紙を送って、しかし数日後、「住所不明」と書かれて、戻って来た事があります。 Sometimes I get an e-mail returned marked the same way. 時々、eメイルも同じように戻ります。 More than one time I have gone to the hospital to visit someone and the nurse tells me that the person has already been discharged and sent home. ２か３度ぐらい病院に行って、入院した人を訪ねようと思いました。しかし、看護婦はその人がもう既に退院した、家に帰りました、と教えられた事があります。 Paraphrasing the words of the Easter Angels, "Why do you look for the healthy among the sick? He is not here; he has been healed!" イースターの天使の言葉を借りて、「なぜ、元気な人を病者の中に捜すのか。あの人は、ここにはおられない。回復したのだ。」

On the First Easter morning, the women had the wrong address for Jesus. 最初のイースターの朝、婦人達は、イエス様の住所を間違えまいた。 They thought he was still in the tomb in the cemetery. イエス様がまだ墓地のお墓にいると思いました。 But they discovered that the tomb was empty. しかし、お墓が空っぽだとすぐ見ました。 Then the angels told them, "'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' Then (the women) remembered his words." その時、天使が教えました、「なぜ、生きておられる方を死者の中に捜すのか。あの方は、ここにはおられない。復活なさったのだ。まだガリラヤにおられたころ、お話しになったことを思い出しなさい。人の子は必ず、罪人の手に渡され、十字架につけられ、三日目に復活することになっている、と言われたではないか。」そこで、婦人たちはイエスの言葉を思い出したのです。They remembered that Jesus had informed them that he would be moving. 以前に、イエス様の住所か変更になると教えた事を思い出しました。 He had told them that he would not remain in the tomb.ご自分がお墓に長くいないと教えたからです。

This Easter morning, we have come to church to look for Jesus. 今日のイースターの朝、私達はイエス様を探しに教会に来ました。 But is this his new address? しかし、ここはイエス様の新しい住所でしょうか。The church is a good place to look for the Resurrected Jesus, because he is here.甦られたイエス様を探す為に、教会に来るのは正解です。 ここにいるからです。He is here in the Word of God, he is here in the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. 神様の御言葉の中にも、洗礼と聖餐式の礼典の中にもいます。 He is here to receive our prayers and our praises. 私達の祈りと私達の賛美を聞く為にイエス様はここにいます。Yes, we do find him here. それで、私達はイエス様をここに見つけます。

And it is a good thing that we can find Jesus, because the world needs him! そして、私達がイエス様を見つけるので、よかったです。何故ならば、この世界にはイエス様が必要だからです。 Sometimes it seems that the world is still stuck at Good Friday. ある時、この世界の状態がまだまだ聖金曜日のようです。 This world is full of death, darkness, and despair. この世界は、死と暗闇と失望でいっぱいです。 People need and want salvation, but they look in the wrong places, among the dead. 人々には救いが必要ですし、救いが欲しいと思いますが、間違っている所でそれを探します。即ち、死者の中で探します。

For example, people who are oppressed look for salvation by oppressing other people. 例えば、圧迫された人は、他の人を圧迫します。 People who feel weak bully others. 自分の弱さを恐れる人は他の人をいじめます。 People who want political freedom take hostages. 政治上の自由が欲しい人は、他の人をひとじきに取ります。 But that is Good Friday type of thinking, as if the Savior were still in the grave.しかし、それは聖金曜日の考え方です、本当の救い主がまだお墓の中にいるような考え方です。

Other people look for success in places that are filled with sin, greed, and crime. 又、ある人は、成功を探して、罪やよくばりや犯罪の中に見ます。 We look for happiness in things of this world and are often disappointed, or we trust people who disappoint us. この世の物の中で幸せを探せば、失望が多いでしょう。又、私達は他の人を信頼しますが、失望させられる時もあります。 And so, our hearts are often filled with doubt, fear and shame. それで、心の中に、疑いと恐れと恥が入ります。 We are looking for things in all the wrong places.なぜなれば、間違っている所で物を探すからです。

Remember what the angels said to the women: 天使が女の人達に話した事を思い出して下さい。 "Why do you look for the living among the dead?" 「なぜ、生きておられる方を死者の中に捜すのか。」 And so we know that we must look for the living among the living. それで、生きているものを生きているものの中で、探さなければなりません。We must look for our Resurrected Lord among the living. 甦られた主を、生きているものの中で探さなければなりません。 He is not in the tomb in the cemetery; he is where people are alive. 墓地のお墓の中ではなくて、生きている人の中にいます。 He is among the living because he is alive. キリストご自身が生きているからです。 Christ is with us because we are alive.それで生きている私達と共にいます。

But the love of Christ is so great that it extends also to those who don't know where he is. キリストの愛が広いので、キリストがどこにいるか分からない人の所にも届きます。 He wants everyone to know where he is and so he sent his disciples to go out into the world. ご自分のいる所を全ての人々に教える為に、弟子達を全世界に送りました。 They tell people the Good News that Christ has arisen from the dead. キリストが甦られたと言う福音を人々に伝えます。 And that is what we are doing today.今日、私達はそれをします。

The angels asked the women, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?" 天使が女の人達に聞きました、「なぜ、生きておられる方を死者の中に捜すのか」と。And we now reply that we aren't. しかし、私達はそうしません。 We have found Jesus! 私達はイエス様を見つけました。 He is alive and dwelling in our hearts. 彼が生きて、私達の心の中に住んでいます。 He makes our hearts alive. 彼は私達の心を活かします。 He makes our everyday lives to be really alive. 私達の毎日の人生を活かします。 We are alive with hope, love, joy, forgiveness, peace, and the fellowship of Christ and fellow believers. 希望があります。愛、喜び、平和があります。キリストやほかの信者達の交わりがあります。

We know the address of Jesus. 私達はイエス様の住所を知ります。 But more important, he knows our address. しかし、もっと大事なのは、イエス様は私達の住所を知る事です。 He knows where we are and blesses us with the joy of the Resurrection. それで、私達の所に来られて、復活の喜びで私達を祝福して下さいます。

Amen. アーメン。Hallelujah! ハレルヤ！ The Lord is risen! 主は甦りました。Amen!アーメン。
