They had locked the doors. ドアに鍵をかけていました。 The Disciples were afraid of the Jews. 弟子達はユダヤ人を恐れていたからです。Perhaps the Jews would come and arrest them and try to crucify them also just like they had crucified Jesus! もしかしたら、ユダヤ人が弟子達をも逮捕して、彼らをもイエス様と同じように十字架につけるだろうと思ったでしょう。 The disciples had heard the news and the rumors about what had happened that day. 弟子達はその日の出来事のニュースやうわさを聞きました。Therefore there was fear, uncertainty, and yet hope and anticipation. ですから恐れと疑いがありましたが、同時に、希望と期待もありました。 But if a sealed tomb door could not hold back Jesus, then neither could a locked door. しかし、封印されたお墓の大きいな石の扉が、イエス様を閉じ込めておく事が出来なかったならば、普通にカギのかかった扉もイエス様の邪魔をしないでしょう。 Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Shalom. Peace.” イエスが来て真ん中に立ち、「あなたがたに平和があるように」と言われた。 「シャローム。平和。」He showed them the marks of his death. 手とわき腹の死のしるしを見せました。Yes, it really was Jesus who stood among them. 皆さんの前に立っているのは、本当にイエス様でした！The fear was changed to joy. 彼らの恐れが喜びに変えられました。“Shalom. Peace.” 「シャローム。平和。」

1—First, there was peace for the disciples because their sadness had turned to joy. 先ず、平和があったのは、弟子達の悲しみが喜びに変えられたからです。They had been grieving that their teacher had been killed, but now that grief is turned to happiness that he was alive. 自分達の先生が殺されていたから悲しみましたが、今生きているので、嬉しくなりました。They had had hopes that Jesus was the Savior, and they had doubts about that when he was captured, tortured, and crucified. 以前、イエス様が救い主であるという希望を持っていました。イエス様が逮捕され、苦しまれ、殺されたのでその希望がなくなりました。But now that he was raised from the dead, they had new hope.しかし復活されたので、新しい希望がありました。

2—Second, there is peace because they have a mission. ２つ目に、平和があったのはミッションがあるからです。When Jesus was arrested, all the disciples had run away. イエス様が逮捕された時、弟子達皆は逃げました。They thought that the work of Jesus was over. イエス様の働きが終わったと思いました。 They thought that they had no future. もう将来がないと思いました。 But Jesus gives them a mission. しかしイエス様はその宣教の働きを彼らに下さいました。 He is sending them to preach the Gospel to the world. 世界の人々に福音を述べ伝えるように彼らを遣わされたのです。“Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 「あなたがたに平和があるように。父がわたしをお遣わしになったように、わたしもあなたがたを遣わす。」 Now they have purpose in their lives, a reason to live. これから、彼らの人生には目的があります。即ち、生きる理由がありました。

3—Third, there is peace because they have the Holy Spirit. ３つ目に、平和があったのは、聖霊が与えられたからです。The Holy Spirit gives peace because the Holy Spirit gives faith. 聖霊が平和を与えるのは、聖霊が信仰を与えるからです。This faith is the whole package of faith. これは完全な信仰です。 Faith is belief in Jesus as the Savior, 信仰とはイエス様を救い主として信じる事ですし、faith is trust in the promises of God, 信仰とは神様の約束を信頼する事ですし、faith is the hope of eternal life, 信仰とは永遠の命を希望する事ですし、faith is the security of God’s love, 信仰とは神様の愛の中で安心する事ですし、faith is the motivation of prayer, 信仰とは祈りを起こす事ですし、faith is worship, 信仰とは礼拝する事ですし、faith is confidence in Jesus Christ, 信仰とはイエス・キリストに対する確信を持つ事ですし、faith is joy, 信仰とは喜ぶ事ですし、and faith is peace. 信仰とは平和を持つ事です。This is all the gift of the Holy Spirit. これら全部は聖霊の送り物です。

4—And fourth, there is peace because of the forgiveness of sins. そして４つ目に、平和があるのは罪の赦しの為です。 God forgave the disciples the sin of deserting and denying Jesus when he was arrested. イエス様が逮捕された時、弟子達は彼を見捨てて、彼を否定しました。しかし、神様はその罪を赦しました。Now they forgive each other. 今度、弟子達はお互いに赦し合わなければなりません。When there is forgiveness, there is no longer any reason for fighting and strife. 赦しがあれば、戦いと争う利用がもうありません。Forgiveness is the beginning of real peace: between people and God and between people and people. 赦しとは本当の平和の始まりです。それは人間と神様との間にも、人間と人間の間にも平和の始まりです。And so Jesus gave the disciples a mission. それで、イエス様は弟子達にミッションを下さいました。 They are sent to do continue the work of Jesus. イエス様の働きを続ける事です。 Jesus died on the cross to forgive sins, and now the disciples proclaim that Gospel. イエス様は十字架上で死ぬ理由とは、罪を赦す為です。 今度弟子達はその福音を述べ伝えます。 If the disciples do not proclaim the Gospel, there is no forgiveness, no peace, and no salvation. もし弟子達がその福音を述べ伝えなければ、赦しがない、平和がない、救いもありません。 But where that Gospel is heard and believed, there if is forgiveness of sin: there is peace, there is the work of the Holy Spirit. しかし、その福音が聞かれて信じられていますと、罪の赦しがあります。平和があり、聖霊の働きがあります。

The disciples were sent, and the Holy Spirit created faith in the hearts of many people, including you and me. 弟子達が遣わされて、聖霊が多くの人々の心の中に信仰を創造しました。あなたと私の心の中にも信仰を造りました。If a sealed tomb door could not hold back Jesus, then neither can the locked doors of our unbelieving hearts. もし封印されたお墓の扉がイエス様の邪魔をしなければ、私達の不信仰の心のドアの邪魔をしないでしょう。Jesus comes and stands among us also. イエス様は私達の所にも来られて私達の間にも立たれます。 “Shalom. Peace be with you.” 「シャローム。平和がありますように。」 We cannot see the nail mark in his hands or the wound in his side. 私達はイエス様の手の釘後やわき腹のけがを見る事が出来ません。 But we believe the witness of those who did see those marks. しかし、私達はそれを見た人々の証を信じます。 And so our fears and worries are also turned to joy. “Shalom. Peace be with you.” ですから、私達の恐れと心配が喜びに変えられます。「シャローム。平和がありますように。」

1—First there is peace for us because we have hope for our lives. 先ず、私達の為に平和があるのは、私たち自身の人生の為に希望があるからです。Jesus suffered and was killed, but was raised from the dead. イエス様が苦しめられて殺されましたが、甦られました。 We realize that Jesus knows our sufferings. イエス様は私達の苦しみが分かります。 He is with us in our sufferings. 私達が苦しむ時、イエス様は私達と共にいます。He understood the doubts of the disciples, and he understands our doubts too. イエス様は弟子達の疑いが分かりました。私達の疑いも分かります。 But just as he was raised from the dead, we too shall be raised from the dead. しかしイエス様が復活したように、私達も復活します。 This is our hope. これは私達の希望です。 And this hope gives us peace that sustains us in our lives. この希望が私達の人生を支え、平和を与えます。

2—Second, there is peace for us because we have a mission. ２つ目に、私達の為に平和があるのは、私達にミッションがあるからです。We have meaning and a purpose in life. 人生の意味と目的があります。Because we are baptized, Jesus speaks to us, also, 私達が洗礼を受けているから、 イエス様が私達にも話して下さいます。“Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 「あなたがたに平和があるように。 父がわたしをお遣わしになったように、わたしもあなたがたを遣わす。」Our mission is to forgive sin. 私達のミッションとは、罪を赦す事です。

3—Third, there is peace for us because we have the Holy Spirit. ３つ目に、私達の人生の為に平和があるのは、私達には聖霊があるからです。If you believe in Jesus as your Savior, then that is proof that the Holy Spirit is in your heart. もしあなたがイエス様を自分の救い主として信じましたら、それは、聖霊があなたの心の中にいる証拠になります。And that gives us peace in the face of all the worries and temptations and problems of life. そして、それは人生の心配と誘惑と問題に直面する時に、あなたの心に平和を与えます。

4—And fourth, there is peace for us because of the forgiveness of sins. ４つ目に、私達の人生の為に平和があるのは、罪の赦しがあるからです。God forgave us, and we forgive others. 神様は私達を赦して下さいましたので、私達は他の人を赦す事が出来ます。If there is real forgiveness then there is no reason not to have peace. 本当の赦しがあれば、そこに平和があります。Forgiveness is love in action. 赦す事は愛が活動しているしるしです。Forgiveness is just simply being a Christian. 赦す事は、ただキリスト信者である事です。The cross is about forgiveness. 十字架は赦しについてです。That is what Christianity is. それがキリスト教です。
