First Lesson, Genesis 3:8-15 8And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” |
創世記 3:8-15 3:8 その日、風の吹くころ、主なる神が園の中を歩く音が聞こえてきた。アダムと女が、主なる神の顔を避けて、園の木の間に隠れると、 3:9 主なる神はアダムを呼ばれた。「どこにいるのか。」 3:10 彼は答えた。「あなたの足音が園の中に聞こえたので、恐ろしくなり、隠れております。わたしは裸ですから。」 3:11 神は言われた。「お前が裸であることを誰が告げたのか。取って食べるなと命じた木から食べたのか。」 3:12 アダムは答えた。「あなたがわたしと共にいるようにしてくださった女が、木から取って与えたので、食べました。」 3:13 主なる神は女に向かって言われた。「何ということをしたのか。」女は答えた。「蛇がだましたので、食べてしまいました。」 3:14 主なる神は、蛇に向かって言われた。「このようなことをしたお前は／あらゆる家畜、あらゆる野の獣の中で／呪われるものとなった。お前は、生涯這いまわり、塵を食らう。 3:15 お前と女、お前の子孫と女の子孫の間に／わたしは敵意を置く。彼はお前の頭を砕き／お前は彼のかかとを砕く。」 |
Everybody knows the Bible story about Adam and Eve. 皆さんがアダムとエバの聖書の物語を知るでしょう。 It is easy to understand because each one of us is an Adam or an Eve. 分かり易いのは、私達皆ひとりひとりがアダムやエバになるからです。
When I was in Sunday School, I remember thinking that if Adam and Eve had not eaten that apple, then the world would be a wonderful, peaceful place with no sin and no problems and no death or disease. 教会学校の時、私が思ったのは、もしアダムとエバがそのりんごを食べなければ、この世は素晴らしい平和なところだったでしょう；罪がないし、問題がないし、死がないし、病気もありません。 I blamed them for all the problems of the world, and especially for all my own personal problems and sins and disobedience, etc. それで世のすべての問題、特に自分個人の問題と罪と反抗などを全部アダムとエバのせいにしました。 And then sometime I came to realize that if Adam and Eve had not eaten that apple, then I would have. そして、いつか、分かってきたのは、もしアダムとエバがそのりんごを食べなければ、私こそ、それを食べたでしょう。 I would have eaten it and caused all the problems and started all the sin of the world. 私はそれを食べて、世のすべての問題を起こして、世の罪が始まるでしょう。 This would have been a huge responsibility. 大きな責任でしょう。 So we cannot blame Adam and Eve, because we all, in our own time, in our own way, repeat their sin. ですから、私達はアダムとエバにすべての責任を負わせる事が出来ません。何故ならば、私達皆が自分の時代で、自分の方法で、彼らの罪を繰り返しています。 We eat an apple, or a peach, or do something that becomes our own first sin, and then the curses of God fall upon us, too. 私達はそのりんごを食べて、又ピーチを食べて、又別の自分の最初の罪を犯すので、神様の呪いが私達の上にも来ます。
But we love to blame Adam and Eve because that is what they did. しかし、私達がアダムとエバのせいにしたのは、彼らがそのような同じ事をしたからです。 They blamed someone other than themselves. 自分で責任を取らないで、他の人に責任を負わせようと思いました。 Adam said, it is not my fault, “the woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” アダムは言いました、私のせいではない、「あなたが私と共にいるようにしてくださった女が、木から取って与えたので、食べました。」 Eve said, it is not my fault, “the serpent deceived me and I ate.” エバも言いました、私のせいではない、「蛇がだましたので、食べてしまいました。」
Children learn early on to blame others. 子供達は、若い時から他の人に責任を負わせる事をならいます。 ‘It was not me, my brother broke it.’ 「僕じゃないよ、弟がそれをこわした。」 ‘My sister started the fight.’ 妹が喧嘩を始めた」と。 Students say, ‘It is not my fault that I get bad grades, the school is bad, the teacher is bad.” 生徒が言います、「成績が悪いのは、僕ではなくて、学校が悪い、先生が悪い」と言います。 Adults also hate to admit their fault for their mistakes or unsocial able behavior. 大人も自分の誤り、自分の無礼の責任を認めません。 The weather is bad, the government is bad, my boss is bad, my coworkers are inept, my salary is too low. 天気が悪い、政府が悪い、ボスが悪い、他の人の仕事が下手、賃金が少ないなどと言います。 I have a disability, I am sick, I am addicted. 僕は病気です、ハンンディキャップがあり、中毒になったからですと言います。 The devil made me do it. 悪魔のせいだ。 The temptation was too strong. 誘惑は強過ぎた。 I had to get revenge and hit him. 仕返しは当然、その人をけっとばさなければなりませんでした。 I am just human. 僕はただ人間だ。 Ultimately, the only one left to blame is God. 結局、責任を負うところとは、神様です。 He made me this way. 神様が私をこのように創造したからです。 Why does God punish me for just being human? 僕が人間のする事をするので、どうして神様が私を罰するでしょうか。
Perhaps there are different categories of sin. 罪の幾つかの種類があるでしょう。 There is deliberate sin, when we know what is right but choose the wrong anyway. 何が正しいかと分かっても悪い事を選ぶ、計画的な罪があります。 There is accidental sin, when we lose our temper and lash out at someone. 人に怒る時、自制心がなくなる時の、事故のような罪もあります。 There is ignorant sin when we do not know that something is bad or insensitive. 何が悪いかを全然知らない時の無知の罪があります。 And there is what we call in the church, original sin, which is the original sinful condition of being separated from God. 又、教会の用語ですが、原罪があります：それは、神様から離れている源の罪深い状態です。 This last condition is the worst, and it must be taken care of first.この最後は一番悪いので、先ずそれを片付けなければなりません。
Just like Adam and Eve who hid in the garden from the presence of God, so sinners have hid from God. 「アダムとエバが、主なる神の顔を避けて、園の木の間に隠れ」ましたと同じように、罪人は神様から身を隠します。 Some people try to run away from God in shame or anger or fear of punishment. 恥の為や怒りの為に、また神様の罰を恐れるので、人は神様から逃げようと思います。 Some people are so hidden that they do not know about the existence of God. ある人は、神様の存在を全然知らないほど隠れています。 They are separated from God in the condition of sin. 神様から離れて、罪の状態の中にいます。 It becomes impossible for people to find God, so God had to come and find people. それで、人間にとっては、神様を見つける事が不可能になったので、神様が来られて人を探す事が必要でした。 And that is the record of the Bible. それが聖書の記録です。 God looked for the man and the women in the Garden of Eden. 先ず、神様はエデンの園で、アダムとエバを探しました。 “Adam, where are you?” he called out. 「アダム、どこにいるのか」と呼ばれました。 Later, God searched and found Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, and the Prophets. 又、神様が探して見つけたのは、アブラハムを初め、ヤコブ、モーセ、ダビデと預言者です。 And finally he sent his own Son, Jesus Christ. 最後に御自分の独り子、イエス･キリストを送りました。 Jesus said this about his work, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). 御自分の働きについて、イエス様はこのように言われました、「人の子は、失われたものを捜して救うために来たのである」と（ルカ19:10）。 Jesus found us. イエス様は私達を見つけました。 He made it easy now for us to find him, as he hung, lifted high upon the cross. そして、十字架上で高く上げられて、私達は簡単に彼を見つける事が出来ます。 He said, “Repent and believe the Gospel.” 言われました、「悔い改めて、福音を信じなさい」と。 When we repent we no longer try to make excuses or to blame someone else. 悔い改める時、私達は自分の罪を弁解しないで、他の人のせいにしません。 And when we believe the Gospel, we trust in Jesus who forgives us and restores us to his presence. 福音を信じる時、私達を赦して、御自分の所に私達を受け入れてくださるイエス様を信頼します。
Today we celebrate with Misa and Chiyuki. 今日、私達はミサ姉とチユキ姉と共にお祝いします。 We celebrate that Jesus has found them. イエス様が彼らを見つけた事をお祝いします。 The Holy Spirit has revealed the love and grace of God. 聖霊は神様の愛と恵みを現して下さいました。 They are no longer hiding in the Garden, they are walking with Jesus their Savior. 彼女達は、もう林の中に自分を隠さないで、救い主イエス様と共に歩みます。
