GOSPEL LESSON: Luke 20:9–20 [The Parable of the Vineyard Tenants] He went on to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed. He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out. “Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.’ “But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. ‘This is the heir,’ they said. ‘Let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. “What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When the people heard this, they said, “May this never be!” Jesus looked directly at them and asked, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone’? Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.” The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people. Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be honest. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor. |
ルカによる福音書20:9-20 20:9 イエスは民衆にこのたとえを話し始められた。「ある人がぶどう園を作り、これを農夫たちに貸して長い旅に出た。20:10 収穫の時になったので、ぶどう園の収穫を紊めさせるために、僕を農夫たちのところへ送った。ところが、農夫たちはこの僕を袋だたきにして、何も持たせないで追い返した。20:11 そこでまた、ほかの僕を送ったが、農夫たちはこの僕をも袋だたきにし、侮辱して何も持たせないで追い返した。20:12 更に三人目の僕を送ったが、これにも傷を負わせてほうり出した。 20:13 そこで、ぶどう園の主人は言った。『どうしようか。わたしの愛する息子を送ってみよう。この子ならたぶん敬ってくれるだろう。』20:14 農夫たちは息子を見て、互いに論じ合った。『これは跡取りだ。殺してしまおう。そうすれば、相続財産は我々のものになる。』20:15 そして、息子をぶどう園の外にほうり出して、殺してしまった。 さて、ぶどう園の主人は農夫たちをどうするだろうか。20:16 戻って来て、この農夫たちを殺し、ぶどう園をほかの人たちに与えるにちがいない。《彼らはこれを聞いて、「そんなことがあってはなりません《と言った。 20:17 イエスは彼らを見つめて言われた。「それでは、こう書いてあるのは、何の意味か。『家を建てる者の捨てた石、／これが隅の親石となった。』20:18 その石の上に落ちる者はだれでも打ち砕かれ、その石がだれかの上に落ちれば、その人は押しつぶされてしまう。《 20:19 そのとき、律法学者たちや祭司長たちは、イエスが自分たちに当てつけてこのたとえを話されたと気づいたので、イエスに手を下そうとしたが、民衆を恐れた。 |
John the Baptist said, “Bear fruit that befits repentance” （Luke 3:8).
バプテスマのヨハネは言いました、「悔い改めにふさわしい実を結べ。《
The Prophet Isaiah said that God planted a vineyard which was Israel (5:1-7). 預言者イザヤは言いました、神様がぶどう畑のようにイスラエルを椊えましたと。But then God says, “When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes?” (5:4). しかし、神様は言いました「良いぶどうが実るのを待った。しかし、実ったのは酸っぱいぶどうであった《と（イザヤ5:1-7）。 The Prophet Jeremiah repeats the same image and the same warning (2:21). 預言者エレミヤは同じ例えと同じ裁きを警告しました（2:21）。 The Prophet Hosea joins them in saying that Israel is a “luxuriant vine that yields it fruit” but also builds many altars to idols (10:1). 預言者ホセアも、「イスラエルは伸びほうだいのぶどうの木。実もそれに等しい《と言いますが、多くの偶像の祭壇も作ると言いました(10:1)。 And all the prophets proclaim the judgment and punishment by God. すべての預言者達は、神様の裁きと滅びを宣言します。 And therefore the prophets were harassed and even killed. ですから、指導者達によって、預言者達が迫害され、殺されました。 Jesus said it this way, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Luke 13:34).イエス様はこのように言われました、「エルサレム、エルサレム、預言者たちを殺し、自分に遣わされた人々を石で打ち殺す者よ、めん鳥が雛を羽の下に集めるように、私はお前の子らを何度集めようとした事か。だが、お前たちは応じようとしなかった《（ルカ13:34）。
So when Jesus spoke the parable of the Tenants in the Vineyard, everyone knew exactly what Jesus meant. それで、イエス様はこのぶどう園の農夫の例え話を話した時、皆はイエス様の意味がよく分かりました。 The scribes and the chief priests were the people who had the job of taking care of God’s vineyard, namely, God’s people. So they knew that Jesus was speaking against them, calling them thieves and murderers. 神様のぶどう園であるイスラエルの人々を守る仕事を持つ律法学者たちや祭司長たちは、イエスが自分たちに当てつけてこの例えを話されたと気づいていました。彼らは泥ぼうや人殺しだとイエス様は言いました。 This is because they refused to accept Jesus as the Son of the Owner of the vineyard, that is, as the Son of God. それは、彼らはイエス様がぶどう園の主人の愛する息子、即ち、神の子、であると受け入れようと思わなかったからです。 It is because they wanted to have control over the people of Israel rather than to follow the design of God. 神様のご計画に従うよりも、自分達がイスラエルの民を支配したいと思ったからです。And so they had to silence people like Jesus and John the Baptist and the Old Testament Prophets. それで、イエス様やバプテスマのヨハネや旧約聖書の預言者を黙らせなければなりません。 Therefore they plotted how to capture and kill Jesus.それで、どのようにイエス様を逮捕して殺すかと計画を立てました。
At the Last Supper Jesus said, “I am the Vine and you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). 最後の晩餐の時イエス様は言われました、「私はぶどうの木、あなたがたはその枝である。人が私につながっており、私もその人につながっていれば、その人は豊かに実を結ぶ。私を離れては、あなたがたは何もできないからである《(ﾖﾊﾈ15:5) 。 At that time Jesus meant that the fruit was love, as he continued saying, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (15:12-13). その時、その実が愛であると意味しました。続けて言われました、「私があなたがたを愛したように、互いに愛し合いなさい。これが私の掟である。友のために自分の命を捨てること、これ以上に大きな愛はない《(15:12-13)。
And Jesus did lay down his life for his friends, for you and me and all who believe in him as their Savior. イエス様は本当にご自分の友のために、あなたと私とイエス様が自分の救い主として信じるすべての人々の為に命を捨てて下さいました。 The fruit of his death and resurrection are forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and salvation. そして、彼の死と復活の実とは、罪の赦し、命と救いです。
When we hear this parable today, we must remember that God wants us to be fruitful in our love. 私達が今日、この例え話を聞く時、神様が愛の実を結ぶように願っている事を覚えましょう。 It is also a call for all the modern workers in the vineyard, all church workers, to “render to God the things that are God’s” (Luke 20:25). 現代、神様のぶどう園である教会の中で働くすべての働き人への呼びかけです。即ち、[神のものは神に返しなさい《と(Luke 20:25)。 This means pastors, preachers, priests, teachers, Sunday school teachers, church council members, elders, deacons, ushers, organists, parents, friends, and all Christians. すべてのキリスト信者です：牧師、説教者、祭司、教師、教会学校の先生、教会の役員、長老、執事、アッシャー、オルガンイスト、親達、友達などです。
Today’s parable is also a prophecy. 今日の例え話は、予言でもあります。 Jesus knew that the Jewish leaders wanted to kill him. イエス様はユダヤ人の指導者達がご自分を殺そうと思ったと分かりました。 For those who rejected him Jesus proclaims God’s judgment. ご自分を受け入れなかった人々の為に、イエス様は神様の裁きを宣言しました。 But he also knows his resurrection. しかし、イエス様はご自分の復活をも知りました。 He says, “The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner” (Lk.20:17). それで言われました、「家を建てる者の捨てた石、これが隅の親石となった《（ルカ20:17）。 This is the resurrection. これは復活です。 And the fruit of that resurrection is for us. そして、その復活が結ぶ実は私達のためです。 It is forgiveness of sin, life, and salvation. それは、罪の赦し、命、と救いです。
