OCFの活動は1960年代に始まりました。カナダからの宣教師、ディビッド・ミッシェル師が、留学生のための集会を行っていました。ミッシェル師がKGK（キリスト者学生会）に協力していたことから、その後はKGKと協力の中で働きが続いてゆきました。

OCF started in the 1960s. A missionary from Canada, Rev. David Mitchell, started a gathering for international students. Since Rev. Mitchell worked closely with KGK (Kirisutosha Gakusei Kai – Fellowship of Christian Students) , OCF continued in close cooperation with KGK.
