What is the Kingdom of God like? 神の国はどのようなものでしょうか。What are we praying for in the Lord's Prayer when we say "Thy kingdom come"? 主の祈りで『御国が来ますように』と祈る時、何を求めるでしょうか。Today's Bible readings are about the Kingdom of God. 今日の聖書日課は神の国についてです。In the Gospel reading Jesus tells 72 of his disciples to go to every town and say "The kingdom of God is near you" (Luke 10:11). 福音書でイエス様は７２人の弟子達がすべての町に言って、「神の国が近づいたことを知れ」と述べ伝えるように言われました（ルカ10:11）。In Galatians Chapter 6, St. Paul urges the congregation to bear the fruit of the spirit in their life together in the kingdom. ガラテヤ人への手紙6章で聖パウロは、その教会が、神の国と共にいる交わりの中で、霊の実を結ぶように書きました。 And the Isaiah 66 passage is a beautiful picture of the future Jerusalem, the heavenly capital of the Kingdom of God. 更に、旧約聖書のイザヤ書６６章の個所は、未来のエルサレム、神の国の天の都の綺麗な絵です。

Jesus sent out 72 people to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom. 御国の福音を述べ伝えるために、イエス様は７２人を遣わしました。In the Bible, 72 is the number of nations in the world. 聖書で７２という数は、世界の国々の数です。So Jesus is giving a sign that the Kingdom of God is for all the "kingdoms" of this world. ですから、このようにしてイエス様は、神の国が全世界の国々の為のものであると言うしるしを与えます。 And for that mission, even more workers will be needed, so Jesus tells us also, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." そのミッションの為に、７２人が足りないので、もっと多くの働き人が必要です。言われました。「収穫は多いが、働き手が少ない。だから、収穫のために働き手を送ってくださるように、収穫の主に願いなさい。」 And so we pray for our seminaries and church schools, and we pray that young people will hear the call and decide to become pastors and teachers and missionaries and workers in the church. ですから私達は祈ります。教会の学校の為に、特に神学大学の為に祈ります。 又、青年が主の呼びかけを聞き入れて、牧師や教師や宣教師や教会の働き人になるように決心するように、献身するように祈ります。 And we pray for all the lay people who speak the Word of God or who invite friends to church when they do not feel confident to speak the Gospel themselves. 同時に、すべての信者の為に祈ります。神の御言葉を話す事が出来るように、又、自分が福音を述べ伝える自信のない人が、人を教会に来るように友達を誘う事が出来るように祈ります。We must pray because there are wolves out there! 祈りが必要です。何故ならば、外には狼がいるからです。Some people hate the Gospel. 福音を憎む人がいます。There may be poverty, but Jesus tells his disciples that they will be offered hospitality. 又、お金がない時もあるでしょうが、イエス様は弟子達に言われたのは、弟子達がもてなしを受ける事です。And if there is no hospitality, do not get angry or upset. 弟子達が他の人に受け入れられなくても、怒ったり、心配したりしてはいけません。Just dust off your shoes and move on. ただ、靴の後ろの埃(ほこり)を払い落して別の所に行きます。

We do this because it is the Gospel of peace. そのようにするのは、これは平和の福音だからです。 Jesus gave the missionaries only two speeches. イエス様はその宣教師たちに、２つの語るべき事を教えました。 "Peace to this house" and "The Kingdom of God is near you" (vs.5,9). 「この家に平和があるように」と「神の国が近づいた」(vs.5,9)。 This peace comes when the sick are healed and when the Gospel of God's love is proclaimed.　　この平和が来るのは、病気の人が癒されている時や、神様の愛の福音が述べ伝えられている時です。

Today's Old Testament reading from Isaiah is interesting. 今日の旧約聖書の日課、イザヤ６６章は面白いと思います。We pray to God the Father, but Jerusalem is like a mother to the children of God. 私達は父なる神様に祈りますが、エルサレムは神様の子供達の母のようです。She nurses her children. She protects them and carries them on her arm. 「乳房(ちぶさ)に養(やしな)われ／抱いて運ばれ、膝(ひざ)の上であやされるのです。」 She comforts her children when they are sick or worried or hurt or scared. この母親は子供達が病気やけがをしている時や怖がる時に慰めます。She plays with the children, they are "dandled on her knees" (66:12). 子供達と遊びます。膝の上であやします。We usually do not think about God playing with us, but why not? 普通、神様が私達と共に遊ぶとは考えません。しかし、良いではありませんか。 One of the fruit of the spirit is "joy." 霊の実の一つは『喜び』です。St. Paul tells us to "Rejoice in the Lord always. And again I say, rejoice" (Phil.4:4). 又、聖パウロは言います。「主において常に喜びなさい。重ねて言います。喜びなさい」（ﾌｨﾘﾋﾟ4:4）。So the Kingdom of God is love and the happiness of that love. ですから、神の国は、愛であり、その愛の幸せです。

And so here we have a description of the Kingdom of God: protection, nourishment, comfort, and play. それで、神の国の絵が描かれています：守り、成長、慰めと遊びです。 Okinawa Lutheran Church is not Jerusalem, but it is the Kingdom of God in this place; we are a group of citizens of the Kingdom of God. 私達の沖縄ルーテル教会はエルサレムではありませんが、この地上での神の国です。そして私達は神の国の国民です。And so, the characteristics of God's Kingdom should be seen right here in our midst. ですから、その神の国の特徴（とくちょう）を私達の交わりの中で見る事が出来るでしょう。 Here we should see the love and happiness of that love. その愛とその愛の幸せが見えます。 There should be protection, nourishment, comfort, and play. ここにも守り、成長、慰めと遊びがあります。 And so we put those things in our church's yearly activity plan: worship, Bible study, and fellowship. ですから、私達の教会の活動計画の中でそのものを入れます：礼拝、聖書の学びと、交わりです。

And do not forget. そして忘れないで下さい。 Jesus was crowned as King when he was on the cross. 十字架上にいる時、イエス様が私達の王として冠を受けました。The sign above his head read, "Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews." 御自分の頭の上に、十字架に書かれたサインは「ユダヤ人の王ナザレのイエス」です。 And as our King, he took upon himself the sins of his people. 私達の王として、御自分の上に御自分の民の罪を取りました。As our King he forgave us. 私達の王として、私達を赦して下さいました。As our resurrected Lord, he gives us eternal life in his Kingdom. 私達の甦られた主として、御国の中の永遠の命を下さいます。And so with joy we pray, "Thy Kingdom come, amen." ですから、喜びを持って私達は祈ります。「御国が来ますように。アーメン。」
