Who's the Fool?
フール（愚かなのは）はだれでしょうか

I Corinthians 1:18-25第１コリント 1:18-25

Do you like "April Fool's" jokes? 今日は４月１日で、言われている「エープリルフール」、「四月馬鹿」の日です。 Do you play them or are you the victim? あなたは他の人にトリックをする人ですか、それとも、トリックされる方でしょうか。 When you get caught in such a joke, do you feel like a fool? トリックのワナに捕（とら）えられましたら、自分が馬鹿だと感じますか。 If it is a good joke, enjoy it, and just be glad it's not for real! 面白い冗談でしたら、楽しみましょう、本当ではないので感謝しましょう。And let's realize that we all are really probably bigger fools than we think! 実は、私達皆は自分が考えるより、大馬鹿（おおばか）でしょう！

Jesus was not a person who played "April Fool's" jokes. イエス様は、「エープリルフール」の冗談をする人ではありません。Some people thought Jesus was a fool, some thought he was just a joker. ある人はイエス様が馬鹿であり、イエス様が人々をだます者であると思いました。 And some people were afraid of looking like a fool in front of Jesus. 又、ある人々は、イエス様の前で自分が馬鹿にされる事を恐れました。 In their pride, they didn't want anyone to know how big a fool they really were. プライド（ほこり）を持っているので、他の人に自分がどんなに馬鹿かを知られたくありませんでした。

So when Jesus taught the people and told parables some people were really upset, because Jesus made them look like fools. イエス様は人々に例え話しを教えた時、ある人々は腹を立てました。それは、彼らがイエス様によって馬鹿者のように見せられたからです。 It is not that they were bad sports; because Jesus was not having fun with them. ただの遊びではありませんでした。He was doing some very serious business. イエス様はまじめでした。 He was trying to get them to see their foolishness and "wise up," that is, to trust in God and repent. イエス様は、彼らが自分達の愚かさを分かって、神様を信頼して悔い改めるようにさせたいと思いました。 The religious leaders may have been fools, but they were not stupid. その時代の宗教の指導者達は、愚かかも知れませんが、頭が悪い訳ではありませんでした。 When Jesus told parables, they immediately understood what Jesus meant. イエス様が例え話しを話すと、彼らはすぐイエス様の話している例え話の意味が分かりました。 And we too may be fools sometimes, but we are not stupid. 私達も、愚かな者ですが、頭が悪い訳ではありません。 We know that Jesus speaks to us, too.イエス様が私達にもその例え話を話して下さっていると分かるからです。

Through the ages, people have thought that Christianity is a big joke. この２０００年の間、キリスト教は一つの大きな冗談だと考えている人びとがいます。 There are some things that might seem strange to unbelievers. 信者ではない人にとっておかしいところがあるでしょう。 Unbelievers often think that Christians are fools to believe the Bible. 未信者たちはしばしば、キリスト信者達が聖書を信じるので、馬鹿だと思います。 Of course, to believers, because we believe in and trust in God, even something that to the world might seem weird and really strange can be accepted, if God says so. もちろん、信者達にとって、神様がそのように言われるので、神様を信じて信頼するので、この世の人々にとって変だと思う事も受け入れる事が出来ます。 We believe that God created the world and takes care of it, even though science can not see it. 科学者達がそれを理解し見る事が出来なくても、神様がこの世を創造して、今もこの世を守っていて下さると信者たちは信じます。We believe that God loves us and disciples us and guides us, even though therapists say that we control our own destiny as if we were our own god. 神様が私達を愛して、試練によって私達を導く事を信じますが、心理学者は私達人間が、自分が自分の神様のように、自分の未来を自分で作ると思います。 We believe there is an ethic greater than the pursuit of wealth and happiness. 私たちクリスチャンはそこにはひとつの優れた道徳、倫理があり、富や幸福を追求する以上に優れていると思います。That ethic leads us to love our enemy and to love people who need our love. その道徳によって、私達は敵を愛して、私達の愛を必要とする人々を愛します。 We believe that God does care what we do and how we act. 神様が私達の振る舞い、生き方を見ると信じます。We believe that God takes sin seriously. 神様が罪をまじめに考えると信じます。 We believe that God would rather forgive than punish us sinners. 神様が私達罪人を罰する事よりも、私達を赦したいと思う事を信じます。 We believe that he sent his Son. 神様がご自分の御子を遣わして下さったと信じます。 We believe that the death of Jesus was caused by us, even though we live almost 2000 years later. 私達がイエス様の誕生から２０００年以上も生きていましても、私達の罪がイエス様の死の原因（げんいん）であると信じます。We believe that his death gives us forgiveness, and that his resurrection gives us eternal life. そして、彼の死は私達に赦しを与え、彼の復活は永遠の命を与えると信じます。We look forward to life eternal when Jesus returns at the end of the world. そして、世の終わりに、イエス様が再び来られる時の永遠の命を待ち望みます。

Is it foolish to believe this? これらを信じる事は馬鹿でしょうか。 Maybe love does what seems foolish sometimes. 人を愛する時、人々は愚かと見える事をします。 So the love of God might seem foolish, to die to save fools like you and me. ですから、私やあなたのような馬鹿者、愚かな者の為に死んで下さる神様の愛も愚かだと見られるかも知れません。 But we do not think the Gospel is foolish because the Holy Spirit has given us faith. しかし、聖霊は私達に信仰を与えて下さったので、福音が馬鹿だと思いません。 And the Holy Spirit has given us the wisdom to understand that the love of God is never a joke.聖霊の知恵によって、神様の愛が決して冗談ではないと分かります。

Do you think God has a sense of humor? 神様にはユーモアを解（かい）する心があると思いますか。 I think so. 私はあると思います。 There are many animals and birds and flowers and plants that seem that God had fun creating them! 多くの動物や鳥や花を見て、神様が楽しくこれらを創造したみたいです。 There are monkeys, kangaroos, and even humans. 猿や、カンガルー、人間でさえも、おかしいものが沢山あります。The words in the benediction at the end of the worship service, "May the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious unto you" could probably also be translated, "May the Lord smile upon you." 礼拝後の祝福の言葉は、「願わくは、主がみ顔をもってあなたを照らし、あなたを恵まれるように」ですが、「どうか、主があなたの上に笑顔を照らすように」と翻訳しても良いと言われています。 God smiles and rejoices when we accept that his death on the cross was for our salvation. 私達がイエス様の十字架上の死が私達の救いの為であると受け入れる時、神様は笑って喜びます。

The Gospel is not a joke, but it is something to laugh and sing and make merry about! 福音は冗談ではありませんが、笑ったり歌ったり楽しんだりするべきものです。 Some of the happy words in the Bible are "Hallelujah," "Hosanna," and ..."Amen!" 聖書の中の楽しい言葉は、このようなものです：「ハレルヤ」、「ホサンナ」、と . . .「アーメン。」
