What would you do if you suddenly ran into money? お金が沢山突然あなたの手に入りましたらどうしますか。 Perhaps it might be an inheritance or the lottery. 遺産やジャンボ宝(たから)くじに当たったでしょうか。 Would you spend it all immediately or save it up for the future? その場合、すぐ全部を使いはたしますか。それとも、将来の為に蓄(たくわ)えるでしょうか。 Would you rather have a fling or security? 遊びか将来のための安心でしょうか。 Jesus tells about a rich man who had a good year in farming. イエス様はたとえ話を話しました。ある金持ちに豊作(ほうさく)がありました。 He had made enough to support him for the rest of his life. 自分が死ぬまで沢山ありました。 He had security. 安心でした。 Then he said, "Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." 彼が言いました、「ひと休みして、食べたり飲んだりして楽しめ。」 That is the advice of the writer of the book of Ecclesiastes. それは伝道の書のコヘレトと同じ忠告です。

Security is good, but the rich man had security in 'goods,' in things. 保障(ほしょう)は万全(ばんぜん)ですが、その金持ちの保障はこの地上の物に頼(たよ)っています。 He had security in himself, what he had done. 自分の成功(せいこう)によって将来への安心がありました。 But no one knows the future. しかし未来を知る人がいません。 He heard the voice of God, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?" 彼は神様の声を聞きました。「愚かな者よ、今夜、お前の命は取り上げられる。お前が用意した物は、いったいだれのものになるのか」と。 We too plan for the future. 私達も将来の為に計画します。 We have our social security, pensions, and savings. 年金(ねんきん)と貯金(ちょきん)があります。 But the stock market drops, there are not enough young people paying into social security, a fire or a medical emergency can wipe out all our savings. しかし株の値段が下がります。日本では年金を払う若い人が少なくなります。又、火事や突然の病気が起こりますと、貯金全部を使ってしまいます。

On our own, we cannot build permanent, eternal security. 自分一人で、永遠への保障(ほしょう)を作る事が出来ません。 There is no eternal security without God. 神様以外には永遠の保障がありません。 Psalm 53:1 says, "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" 詩篇５３篇が言います、「愚かな者は心のうちに「神はない」と言う」（口語訳）。 The rich man had put his trust in his own efforts without God, その金持ちは、すべての信頼を神様によりも、自分の働きの成功に置きました。and then God said, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?" そして神様は言われました。「愚かな者よ、今夜、お前の命は取り上げられる。お前が用意した物は、いったいだれのものになるのか」と。

When on the cross, the devil called Jesus a “fool.” 十字架上にいる時、悪魔はイエス様を「愚かな者」と呼びました。“You fool! This very afternoon about three o’clock your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have preached to followers?”　「愚かな者よ、今日の午後３時頃、お前の命は取り上げられる。お前が弟子達に説教した物は、いったいだれのものになるのか」と。 On the cross there was no security. 十字架上には安全がありません。 He had been stripped of his clothes, he had no money, his friends had deserted him, it seemed that even God his Father had deserted him, 着物がはぎ取られ、お金も無く、友達は彼を捨てて逃げ、父なる神様でさえも彼を捨てたように見えます。"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" 「「エロイ、エロイ、レマ、サバクタニ。」これは、「わが神、わが神、なぜわたしをお見捨てになったのですか」という意味である。」 The only things that secured Jesus that day were the nails that secured him to the cross, and the sin of the world that condemned him to die, and the love that he had for us so that he willingly died in our place. その日に確かになったこととは、イエス様を十字架にしっかりと付けた釘です。又彼を死刑にした世の罪です。それ以上に、私達の為に喜んで死んで下さるイエス様の愛です。 Real security was the promise of God. 確かな保障とは神様の約束です。 That is the promise he spoke to the thief on the cross, その約束を隣の十字架上にいる強盗に話しました｡"Today you will be with me in Paradise." 「今日、あなたは私と共にパラダイスにいる」と。

Easter proves that there is no security in Hell. イースターは地獄には安全な所は一つもないと証明します。 Easter proves that the devil cannot hold us forever. 悪魔が私達を永遠に捕らえておく事が出来ないこと、これがイースターの証拠(しょうこ)になります。 Easter proves that real security is in Jesus. 本当の保障はイエス様の中にある事です。This is eternal life. これが永遠の命です。This is when we can really eat, drink and be merry. これこそが食べたり飲んだりして楽しめる事の出来る理由です。 Psalm 23 says, "5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."　詩篇２３篇は言います、「23:5 わたしを苦しめる者を前にしても／あなたはわたしに食卓を整(ととの)えてくださる。わたしの頭に香油(こうゆ)を注(そそ)ぎ／わたしの杯を溢れさせてくださる。23:6 命のある限り／恵みと慈しみはいつもわたしを追う(お)。主の家にわたしは帰り／生涯(しょうがい)、そこにとどまるであろう。」

In the Lord's Supper, Jesus tells us to eat his body and drink his blood and make the covenant of faith. 聖餐式に、イエス様は私達が彼の体を食べて、彼の血を飲んで、信仰の契約を結ぶように言われます。 Eat, drink, and rejoice in the security of eternal life. 食べたり飲んだり永遠の命の安心を喜びなさいと。 Our treasure is in heaven (Luke 12:33). 富を天に積(つ)みます（ルカ12:33）。 And so we can understand and follow the advice of the writer of Ecclesiastics, それで、私達は伝道の書のコヘレトの言葉、その忠告を理解して従います、"24 A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?"　「2:24 人は食い飲みし、その労苦によって得たもので心を楽しませるより良い事はない。これもまた神の手から出ることを、わたしは見た。2:25 だれが神を離れて、食い、かつ楽しむことのできる者があろう。」（口語約）。

FIRST LESSON: Ecclesiastes 2:18-26

1:2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." (RSV "Vanity of vanities.")

2:18 I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. 19 And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the work into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless. 20 So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. 21 For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. 22 What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? 23 All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless.

24 A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? 26 To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Gospel Reading, Luke 12:13-21 The Parable of the Rich Fool

13 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."

14 Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" 15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

16 And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. 17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.' 18 "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."' 20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' 21 "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

ルカ12:13 群衆の一人が言った。「先生、わたしにも遺産を分けてくれるように兄弟に言ってください。」

12:14 イエスはその人に言われた。「だれがわたしを、あなたがたの裁判官や調停人に任命したのか。」12:15 そして、一同に言われた。「どんな貪欲にも注意を払い、用心しなさい。有り余るほど物を持っていても、人の命は財産によってどうすることもできないからである。」

12:16 それから、イエスはたとえを話された。「ある金持ちの畑が豊作だった。12:17 金持ちは、『どうしよう。作物をしまっておく場所がない』と思い巡らしたが、12:18 やがて言った。『こうしよう。倉を壊して、もっと大きいのを建て、そこに穀物や財産をみなしまい、12:19 こう自分に言ってやるのだ。「さあ、これから先何年も生きて行くだけの蓄えができたぞ。ひと休みして、食べたり飲んだりして楽しめ」と。』12:20 しかし神は、『愚かな者よ、今夜、お前の命は取り上げられる。お前が用意した物は、いったいだれのものになるのか』と言われた。12:21 自分のために富を積んでも、神の前に豊かにならない者はこのとおりだ。」

伝道の書、コヘレト

1:2 コヘレトは言う。なんという空しさ／なんという空しさ、すべては空しい。

2:18 太陽の下でしたこの労苦の結果を、わたしはすべていとう。後を継ぐ者に残すだけなのだから。2:19 その者が賢者であるか愚者であるか、誰が知ろう。いずれにせよ、太陽の下でわたしが知力を尽くし、労苦した結果を支配するのは彼なのだ。これまた、空しい。2:20 太陽の下、労苦してきたことのすべてに、わたしの心は絶望していった。2:21 知恵と知識と才能を尽くして労苦した結果を、まったく労苦しなかった者に遺産として与えなければならないのか。これまた空しく大いに不幸なことだ。2:22 まことに、人間が太陽の下で心の苦しみに耐え、労苦してみても何になろう。2:23 一生、人の務めは痛みと悩み。夜も心は休まらない。これまた、実に空しいことだ。

2:24 人間にとって最も良いのは、飲み食いし／自分の労苦によって魂を満足させること。しかしそれも、わたしの見たところでは／神の手からいただくもの。2:25 自分で食べて、自分で味わえ。2:26 神は、善人と認めた人に知恵と知識と楽しみを与えられる。だが悪人には、ひたすら集め積むことを彼の務めとし、それを善人と認めた人に与えられる。これまた空しく、風を追うようなことだ。
