子どもへのお話 “キャッチボールしましょう”又“フリズビーの愛”

　

Sermon: “The Ne w Commandment: Love One Another” John 13:31-35

説教 “新しい掟、互いに愛し合いなさい”ヨハネ13:31-35

Jesus gave a new commandment. He said, “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

イエス様は新しい掟（おきて）を与えました。言われました、「あなたがたに新しい掟を与える。互いに愛し合いなさい。わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、あなたがたも互いに愛し合いなさい。互いに愛し合うならば、それによってあなたがたがわたしの弟子であることを、皆が知るようになる。」

　

This mutual love looks like playing catch or Frisbee, as we love and return the love. And like playing catch, it takes practice to be good at it.

このお互いの愛は、“キャッチボール”や“フリズビー”の遊びのようです。人を愛します、そして、愛されましたら、その愛を返します。そして、キャッチボールと同じように、うまくなる為には練習が必要です。

　

There are also the commandments to Love God and to Love Your Neighbor and even Love Your Enemy. ほかの愛の戒めもあります。神を愛しなさい、隣人を愛しなさい、敵を愛しなさい。 But this mutual love is a special love for those in the fellowship of the followers of Christ. しかし、このお互いの愛は、イエス様に従う人々の交わりの為に特別な愛です。It means we have to respect and be nice to fellow church members. この愛で、私達は同じ教会のメンバーに親切とそんけいを表します。 It means we also have to respect and be nice to other Christians who are not in our denomination but who are disciples and followers of Christ. 同時に、私達の教会の宗派に属していないキリストの弟子、キリストに従う人々にも親切とそんけいを表します。

I say this second meaning because of today’s Bible Reading from Acts 11. どうしてこの二つ目の意味を与えますかと言いますと、それは今日の第一の聖書日課、使徒11章のためです。You see, Cornelius was a Roman centurion who believed in Jesus, but he was not Jewish. コルネリウスと言う人は、ローマの軍隊の百人隊長でした。彼はイエス様を信じましたが、ユダヤ人ではありませんでした。And Jews did not want to do anything with Gentiles. ユダヤ人達は、異邦人と全然接触しませんでした。Peter was a Jew but God gave him a vision of a sheet being let down from heaven which held all sorts of animals that the Jews thought to be unclean. But God declared them clean and edible. ペトロはユダヤ人でしたが、神様は彼に幻を見せました。その幻の中で大きな布、シーツのようなものが天から降りて来ました。そのシーツの中には、いろいろの動物がいました。「汚れた」とユダヤ人達が思う動物もいました。しかし、神様は、そのすべてが清くて、「食べられる物」と宣言しました。

　

In this vision, God meant more than animals for food. The vision that Peter saw was like a parable, which meant that all people of every nation and race are clean through Jesus Christ. この幻は例え話しのようです。その意味とは、すべての人々、どこの国でも、どの人種でしても、イエス･キリストによって清められていると意味します。 And so, because of the revelation from God, Peter had the faith now to go to the home of Cornelius, to have fellowship with him and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. ですから、この神様からの啓示があったので、コルネリウスの家に行く信仰がありました。この信仰によって、コルネリウスと交わりを持って、イエス･キリストについての福音を述べ伝える事が出来ました。 Now they too could enjoy mutual love as they love one another. 今度、彼らもお互いに愛し会う事が出来ました。

　

The basis of this love was in the new commandment that Jesus gave, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” この愛はイエス様が与えて下さった新しい戒めに基づいていました。「わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、あなたがたも互いに愛し合いなさい。」 Peter saw that God loved Cornelius and so Peter must love Cornelius in the same way Christ would love Cornelius. ペトロは、神様がコルネリウスを愛したと見たので、今度、キリストがコルネリウスを愛したと同じように、ペテロも、コルネリウスを愛さなければなりません。 This love means respect, kindness, thoughtfulness, and fellowship. これは、そんけいと親切と思いやりと交わりを意味します。

　

The love of Christ for us is the basis of our love for one another. キリストの私達に対する愛は、私達のお互いの愛の源（みなもと）です。 We love the other person as Christ loves the other person: respect, kindness, and all the characteristics of I Corinthians 13. キリストがその他の人を愛すると同じように、私達もその他の人を愛します：そんけい、親切、又、第一コリント１３章の言葉のようです。 Jesus said, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” イエス様は言われました、「わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、あなたがたも互いに愛し合いなさい。」と。 How did Jesus love us? どのようにしてイエス様が私達を愛したでしょうか。 He died on the cross to save us. 私達を救う為に十字架上で死んで下さいました。 This is the way we must love others, too. このようにして私達は他の人を愛します。 Love means that we give our life to others, whether we die for them or live for them; we live and love like Christ did. 愛があれば、人の為に命を与えます、死んでも、生き続けても；キリストと同じように生きて愛します。

　

When Peter had fellowship in the Word of God with Cornelius, the Holy Spirit filled everyone there. ペテロはコルネリウスと共に神様の御言葉の交わりがあった時、聖霊は皆を満たしました。 And so it is with us. 私達の場合も同じです。 In the power of the Holy Spirit, we love each other as Christ has loved us. 聖霊の力によって、私達はキリストが私達を愛したように、お互いに愛し合います。
