Today is Trinity Sunday. 今日は三位一体主日です。 It is the mark of the True Christian Church to believe in the doctrine/teaching of the Trinity. 誠のキリスト教会としてのしるしで、三位一体の教理・教えを信じる事です。 It says that there is only One God but that there are three Persons in this Holy Unity. それは、神様が唯一（ゆいいつ）であることですが、3つの位格（いかく）が聖なる三位一体にあります。 It says that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. 父は神であり、子は神であり、聖霊も神です。 There seems to be little disagreement about the Father being God. 父が神である事には異論（いろん）がありません。 Jews, Muslims, Jehovah Witnesses, and even Unitarians will say that. ユダヤ教も、イスラム教も、エホバ証人もそう思います。 But the Christian Creed says that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are also God. しかし、キリスト教会の信条は、イエス様も聖霊も神であると言います。 Today I want to look at why it is so important that Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity is God.　今日、どうしてイエス様が三位一体の神の第二位格である事が大切かについて調べたいと思います。

The New Testament Gospels are very clear that Jesus is God. 新約聖書の４つの福音書は、イエス様が神であるとはっきりと言います。 　The Christmas stories of Matthew and Luke tell how the virgin Mary’s son was the son of God. マタイとルカのクリスマスの話しは、乙女のマリヤの子は神の子であると話します。 In Mark, at the foot of the cross when Jesus had died, the centurion said, “Truly this man was the Son of God.” マルコの福音書15:39に、イエス様が死んだ時、十字架の下に立っていた百人隊長は「本当に、この人は神の子だった」と言いました。　 In John, the Gospel beings using philosophical language about Jesus who is called the “Word,” ヨハネの福音書の第１章は哲学的な表現を使って、イエス様を｢言葉｣と言います。 “In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God.” １:１、｢初めに言があった。言は神と共にあった。言は神であった。｣Then at the end of the Gospel, doubting Thomas, no longer doubting says, “My Lord and my God.”又、福音書の最後、疑い深いトマスは、疑わないで、「わが主！わが神！」と言いました。

But why is this important. しかし、どうしてこれが大切でしょうか。 It is important because Jesus is God almighty come down to this earth. それは、イエス様がこの地上に降りて来られた全能の神様であるからです。He is true God and true Man. イエス様は誠の神であり、誠の人間であります。 And so when Jesus is on the cross, God is on the cross. ですから、イエス様が十字架上にいる時、神が十字架上にいます。 When Jesus died on the cross, God died on the cross. イエス様が十字架上で死んだ時、神様ご自身が十字架上で死にました。 Because he was divine, Jesus could take the sin of the whole world upon himself and be the supreme sacrifice that forgave that sin. イエス様が神であるので、ご自分の上に全世界の人々の罪を取ることが出来ます；そして、最高の犠牲を払って、その罪を赦しました。 Just a normal person could not do that. 普通の人間はその事をする事が出来ません。And it shows the supreme love of God. 又、それは、神様の最高の愛を表します。 God was willing to die for us people. 神様は、喜んで私達人間の為に死にました。 That is the greatest love of all. それは、私たちへの最高の愛です。 Then Jesus rose from the dead, it means that we too will rise from the dead and be given eternal life.　そして、イエス様が甦った時、それは、私達も復活して永遠の命を受ける事を表します。

Without Christ, we could not know the love of God the Father, we would only know his anger at sin. キリストがいなければ、私達は父なる神様の愛を知る事が出来ません、罪に対する神様の怒りしか分かりません。 But in Jesus we know that love. しかし、イエス様によって、私達はその愛を知ります。 But without the Holy Spirit, our sinful, fallen hearts could not know about Jesus. 聖霊が来られなければ、私達の罪深い、堕落した心はイエス様の事を知る事が出来ません。 So the Holy Spirit comes to us and gives us faith. ですから、聖霊は私達の心に来られて信仰を下さいます。The Holy Spirit shows us Christ who shows us the Father.聖霊は私達にキリストを教え、キリストは私達に父を教えます。

Again, here is why it is very important that Jesus is God. 再び、イエス様が神である事が大切であると分かります。 With our eyes, we cannot see God the Father or God the Holy Spirit, but in Jesus, we can see God. 私達は、自分の目で、父なる神や聖霊なる神を見る事が出来ませんが、イエス様によって、私達は神様を見る事が出来ます。 It is not that God has a body with two arms and two legs, but that God has a heart that loves us. 神様には二つの手、二つの足のある体をもつかたであると意味するのではなくて、神様には、私達を愛して下さる心がある事です。 When we are stricken by sin and fear, in Jesus we see God who forgives us and protects us. ですから、罪や畏れにおそわれている時、私達を赦して私達を守って下さる神をイエス様の中に見ます。When we grieve or are sad, we see in Jesus that God is also sad because of the pain and death in this world. 悲しむ時、イエス様の中にこの世の痛みと死の為に悲しんでいる神様を見ます。 When we are lonely, we see in Jesus that God loves us and that he is with us. 私達が淋しいと思う時、イエス様の中に、神様が私達を愛して、私達と共にいる事を見ます。 When we are fearful of the future or of death, we see in Jesus that he has prepared an eternal home for us. 私達が未来について心配する時、イエス様が私達の為に永遠の家を準備された事を見ます。 Since Jesus is God, his promises have almighty power, and so will be fulfilled. イエス様が神でるので、彼の約束には全能の力があるので、その約束を成就します。

People who do not know Jesus can only know a God who is strict and demanding and fearful. イエス様を知らない人には、神様はきびしくて恐ろしいとしか見えません。But in Jesus Christ we see love and hope. しかし、イエス･キリストによって、愛と希望を見る事が出来ます。 This is why Christians enjoy the doctrine of the Trinity. ですから、キリスト信者達は三位一体の教理が大好きです。 It makes us happy because we see the whole love and plan of God for our salvation.私達の救いの為に神様のすべての愛とご計画を見ますので、嬉しいです。
