What is your job, what is your occupation?
あなたの仕事や職業は何でしょうか。 Are you a teacher or a student? 先生かそれとも生徒でしょうか。 Are you a pilot or a bus driver? 飛行機のパイロットか、バスの運転手でしょうか。 Do you work in an office or outside or in your own house? 職場は事務所の中か外でしょうか、自分の家でしょうか。 Are you employed or retired? 仕事があるかそれとも引退しているでしょうか。Are you a parent or child? 親でしょうか、それとも子供でしょうか。
What is your job in the Vineyard of God?
神様のぶどう園の中では、あなたの働きは何でしょうか。 I did not ask what your job in the church was, but rather in the Vineyard of God. 教会の中の仕事と言わないで、神様のぶどう園の中の働きです。 That vineyard is larger than the physical, visible church. このぶどう園は、目で見える教会より大きいです。 This is October, the month to celebrate the Protestant Reformation. 今月、１０月は、宗教改革記念日を祝う月です。 The Reformers like Martin Luther taught us that the work of God was not limited to the monks and nuns in the convents and monasteries. マルチン･ルター達が教えたのは、神様のための働きとは、修道院の中の修道士や修道女に限られていない事です。No matter what their station in life or status in the community is, every Christian is a worker in the Kingdom of God. どのような社会的な地位や人生の状態であっても、すべてのキリスト信者は神の国の中の働き人です。 You cannot separate the secular from the holy. 世俗的なものと聖なるものを分離すること出来ません。 Of course there are some activities that are not holy, which a Christian might be tempted to do. 勿論、そこには清くない活動でキリスト信者を誘惑する罪深いものもあります。 I do not want to say that sin is part of the work of being in God’s Vineyard. 神様のぶどう園の中で罪がその働きの一部と全然言いたくありません。 What I want to say is that your job or your occupation or your daily activity is the place where you are called to do the work of God. ここで言おうと思うのは、あなたの仕事、職務、毎日の活動は、神様の働きをする為に、神様があなたを召命している場所です。 For example, if you are a waitress in a restaurant, then that is your work for God, given to you by God. 例えば、もしあなたがレストランのウェイターでしたら、そこがあなたに与えられた神様の働きの場です。 In your daily activities, no matter what they are, we are to do the work of God, the work of God being that we would love the neighbor.毎日の活動の中で、どんな事でしても、その中で私達が神様の為に働くべきです。なぜならその働きとは、隣人を愛する事であるからです。
In today’s Gospel lesson, Jesus tells the parable about the wicked tenants in the vineyard.
今日の福音書の中では、イエス様はぶどう園の悪い農夫の例え話を語ります。 Their problem was that they wanted to control the vineyard and steal it from the owner, so they killed the messengers and finally killed the son. そのぶどう園を借りていた農夫の問題とは、そのぶどう園を支配したいと思い，主人から奪おうと思って、先ず、つかわされた僕達を殺したり、最後に、主人の息子さえも殺してしまいました。 The vineyard is the nation of Israel, God is the landowner, the tenants are the Pharisees and chief priests, the harvest is faith and love and worship, the messengers are the prophets of the Old Testament, and the Son is Jesus Christ. ぶどう園とはイスラエルの国で、家の主人とは神様で、農夫はファリサイ派の人や祭司長達で、収穫とは信仰と愛と礼拝で、僕達は旧約聖書の預言者で、息子はイエス･キリストです。 Jesus is predicting that they will lose control of the vineyard of Israel and their religion and it will be given to faithful believers in Jesus.イエス様が預言するのは、イスラエルであるぶどう園の支配とその宗教が彼らから取られて、イエス様を信じて真実な人に渡す事です。
The modern tenants of the vineyard are Christians.
現代のぶどう園の農夫とは、キリスト信者です。 The modern messengers are pastors and Sunday School teachers and parents and friends that remind us to work for God and give the fruit of the harvest to God. 現代の僕とは、牧師と教会学校の先生と親と友達で、これらの人々が神様の為に働いて、神様に収穫の実を神様に収osaめるようにと思い起こさせる人々です。That is, to have and harvest the fruit of love in their lives. 即ち、自分の人生の中で、愛の実、愛の収穫がある事です。When we reject the voice of those people, we are rejecting the voice of God. 私達がその人々の声を無視する時、私達は神様の声を無視します。 When we want to do what we want to do rather than listening to the advice of those who are reminding us of the Ten Commandments, it is like stoning the prophets. 十戒を守りなさいと言っている人々の忠告を聞かないで自分の好きなままをする時、それが、預言者に石を投げて殺す事のようです。 And when we completely reject them, we will finally reject the Son of God from our lives. その人を完全に無視すると、最後に自分の人生からイエス様をも無視します。 Then we are joining with those who crucified him. それで、イエス様を十字架上につけた人々と同じになります。 And the parable reminds us that those who reject the Son are also rejecting God, who will then reject them and bring them to a wretched end.そして、この例え話が教えるのは、子を拒む人は神様をも拒みますので、神様は彼らを拒んで、ひどい目に遭aわせて殺す事です。
And in the mystery of the Gospel, the Son who was rejected became the capstone, the cornerstone, the foundation of our lives.
福音の神秘とは、捨てられた子が隅の親石となりました、私達の人生の土台になりました。 The marvelous mystery of the Gospel is that the one we reject is the one who chooses us. この不思議な、驚くべき福音とは、私達が捨てたお方が、私達を選ぶ事です。 He sends his messengers who tell us the Word of God. 神の御言葉を述べ伝えるメッセンジャーを送ります。 He sends the Holy Spirit. 聖霊を送ります。 In repentance and faith, we can return to the Vineyard of God. 悔い改めと信仰を持って、私達が神様のぶどう園に戻る事が出来ます。We can live our lives with faith and trust. 信仰と信頼を持って、人生を送ります。And so, every occupation and activity can be work for God, because Jesus is always with us.
それで、すべての職業、働き、人生に於いて、私達が神様の為に働く事が出来ます、それは、イエス様いつも私達と共にいるからです。 It is the place where he has called us. イエス様は私達がその所に呼ぶからです。Amen.
