Pray to Forgive Others
他の人を赦すように祈ります

Prayer is a way of life for a Christian. キリスト信者の人生の生き方とは、祈りの生活です。 We know that since God is almighty that he does indeed hear our prayers, but will he grant all our requests? 神様が全能のお方であるので、私達のすべての祈りを聞く事が出来ますが、私達の全ての願いをかなえるでしょうか。 If we pray for a million dollars will he give it to us? 例えば、1億円の為に祈れば、下さるでしょうか。 Well, we know that as a good father, he will give us what we need when we need it, しかし、良いお父さんのように、必要な物を必要な時に下さいます。 It is as we pray in the Lord's Prayer, "Thy will be done…Give us this day our daily bread." 主の祈りで祈るようです。「御心の天になるごとく、地にもなさせたまえ。….. 我らの日ごとの糧（かて）を、今日も与えたまえ。」 In today Gospel lesson, Jesus gives us confidence for our prayers. 今日の福音書の中で、イエス様が私達の祈りに確信を与えます。 Matthew 18:19-20. "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." マタイ18:19-20、「また、はっきり言っておくが、どんな願い事であれ、あなたがたのうち二人が地上で心を一つにして求めるなら、わたしの天の父はそれをかなえてくださる。 二人または三人がわたしの名によって集まるところには、わたしもその中にいるのである。」

When those two or three come together in the name of Jesus, they are praying about the work of Jesus, that is, the work done in the name of Jesus, on this earth. その二人や三人がイエス様の名前によって集まる時、イエス様の働きの為に祈ります。即ち、この地上でのイエス様の御名によって行なわれる働きのためにです。 They are not praying about something selfish or harmful. 自己中心的なものや他の人に害を与えるものの為に祈っていません。 It is a prayer that comes from loving God and loving the neighbor. その祈りの源とは、神様を愛する事や隣人を愛する事です。 If this prayer were a petition, they know that Jesus would sign the petition, too. If it is something we are sure that Jesus would sign his name to, if we are sure that Jesus would be proud to participate in that prayer, then we pray with all confidence. もしこの祈りにイエス様もご自分の名前をサインする事が出来るものでしたら、もしイエス様がご自分のハンコを押してこの祈りの活動に喜んで参加する事でしたら、私達は自信を持って祈ります。

But what should we pray for? しかし、何の為に祈りましょうか。 We should pray for everything in the Lord's Prayer, praying in detail for those things that are needed right now or that we feel in our hearts. 主の祈りが教えるように祈って、そして、詳しく、自分の心の中で感じて、今必要だと思うものの為に祈ります。 In today's Gospel lesson, Jesus is telling his disciples to pray for three specific things. 今日の福音書では、イエス様は３つの特別な祈りを教えます。 We should pray for children. 子供の為に祈ります。 We pray that nothing would lead them away from faith in Jesus Christ. その子供がイエス･キリストを信じる信仰から引き離されないように祈ります。 And we should pray that the brother or sister who has sinned should return, be sorry, and be forgiven. そして、罪を犯した兄弟姉妹が、悔い改めて、赦されて、教会の交わりに戻るように祈ります。

First we pray for children. 先ず、子供達の為に祈ります。 Their bodies might be small, but their faith is big. 体が小さいでしょうが、信仰が大きいです。 Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven" (18:3-4). イエス様は言われました、「はっきり言っておく。心を入れ替えて子供のようにならなければ、決して天の国に入ることはできない。自分を低くして、この子供のようになる人が、天の国でいちばん偉いのだ。」(18:3-4) We hear about child abuse. 子供に対する虐待（ぎゃくたい）と言う二ユースについてよく聞きます。 As a Pastor, I feel that the greatest abuse of children is when children are not taught the Gospel of Jesus, or when they are not brought to Sunday School or the water of Baptism. 私は牧師として思いますが、子供に対する一番ひどい害を与える事とは、子供がイエス様についての福音が教えられていない時だと思います。教会学校や洗礼の水に連れて来ない時です。 If people really love children they should want them to have eternal life. 本当に子供を愛する事でしたら、その子供に永遠の命を与えられる事を望むでしょう。

And whether children or adults, we pray that those who have wandered away from the flock of the church would come home. そして、子供でしても大人でしでも、教会の群から迷いでた羊が帰るように祈ります。 After finding them, the next step is repentance and forgiveness. 見つけたら、次に、悔い改めと赦しが必要です。 Repentance says "I am sorry, I want to come home." 悔い改めは「ごめんなさい、帰らせて下さい」と言います。 Forgiveness says, "Welcome back." 赦しは、「お帰りなさい」と言います。 This is the point or purpose of forgiveness. これは、赦しの目的です。 It is not to gloss over sin, rather it is to remove sin and hard feelings so that we can have fellowship. それは、ただ罪を見ない事ではなく、罪とその恨(うら)みを廃棄(はいき)して、交わりを持つ事です。 Forgiveness is reconciliation, it is fellowship. 赦しとは、和解です、交わりです。 It is being with others. たの人と共にいる事です。 When God is with us, it is he greatest of all blessings. 神様が私達と共にいる時、最高の祝福です。 God is with us in Jesus Christ. 神様がイエス･キリストによって私達と共にいます。 That is, God forgives us in Jesus Christ. 即ち、イエス･キリストによって私達を赦して下さいます。 His death on the cross shows how much he wants to be with us. イエス様が十字架上で死ぬほど、神様が私達と共にいたいと思います。 That is why forgiveness is salvation. ですから、赦しは救いです。

Amen. アーメン。
